I have a 1986 corolla II 1.3 manual

The car starts cold fine. Once heated up dies down often or gets the hickup. Once died down its very difficult to start. the carb floods into the airfilter. had work done on it before to no avail (apparently these carbs are known to be difficult to adjust) any suggestions or can the carb be exchanged for a different one? Im in NZ and the car is a jap import

Thanks in advance
