Hi Everyone, my wife and I are picking up a new Corolla ascent hatch next week want to get reverse parking sensors installed. As a result, I was just wondering what is the best option for both performance and looks.

The factory option looks fine (Parkassist) installed at a toyota dealer however other options like the Mongoose MRS4 system using a licenced installer also look good. Both seem to run for around the same price, although I haven't really looked ito the cheapest options and price is not the primary concern.

P.S. Any better options ?, I don't want to do it myself as I do not wan't to wear the pain if it does not look absolutely perfect.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase :D :D i have rear parking sensors on my sedan . I had them fitted by the dealer and choose the 4 sensor instead of two. I choose the dealer as the idea of factory warranty of three years appealed to me.. The thing with the sensors is to watch that polish doesnt get into the grooves. :D :D

I had the toyota genuine parking sensor fitted to the RAV4. One of the dealers I visited was trying to sell us an aftermarket one which came with a LCD screen mounted inside the car to give a visual display (bar graphs). It also came with 3-year warranty like the geniune. Eventually bought the car from a different dealer and had the toyota one fitted.

Works well most of the time. However, we've noticed that when the car is driven in the wet, the sensor will beep continuously (as with you are about to hit something) when put in reverse. This is probably due to water/dirt building up on the sensor. Returned to normal function once you've given the sensors a wipe.

I've also found that sensors can randomly beep at times and found that happens when the sensors are squeezed into holes that are too small...

Pull the sensors out, give them a good clean and also file the holes out a touch more...

Works everytime :) :) :) ...

Hi How are you. I wondered what you thought of your new Corolla as I am looking at getting either the Ascent Seca 2006 122R or the 2007 152R IN Auto. Do you like the car and have you always had Toyota? Thanks

Latest Repco catalogue has 50% discount Penrite Vantage Semi Synthetic 10W-40 Engine Oil 6L - VANSEMI10W40006. $35 for 6 litres is worth considering whether it will be applicable for your vehicle's engine and servicing requirements. Because most of my driving is short distance and as preventative measure against oil sludge, I use a comparatively short oil change interval between 3-6 months. It is a cost benefit decision.       Advice Please

      I have an imported Hiace 200 with the 2.0l 1TR FE petrol, engine. There is a noise from the engine that i'm pretty sure is the alternator. I'm finding it difficult to source a new alternator at a reasonable price, It seems there are plenty for the 2.7 engine. Does anyone know if one of those would fit my 2.l engine. Thanks

      Hi Team Toyota, I am fortunate enough to be the proud owner of 2 Toyota's - an '03 Rav4 AWD Cruiser and an '07 Toyota Hiace. Both have been reliable and strong with incredible components that are so well fitted, it's a struggle to dismantle any part of them.       Car Detailing Recommendations

      I recently came across Car Detailing Sydney, and they seem to be a great option for getting your car detailed around the area. I had my friend’s 2020 Camry detailed there, and it turned out fantastic—the shine was like it just rolled off the dealership lot. It cost about $400, and they were really thorough with both the exterior and interior. Definitely worth checking out if you want your Corolla looking fresh again.

      Landcruiser 200 GPS

      I got mine from GTzone, a 7-inch head unit for my 2018 Land Cruiser. I think all the aftermarket Android screens are very similar. My one from GTzone came with a GPS antenna, I believe the one from Brummstadt should include one as well. It has two options for using the navigation app, one is to insert a SIM card or share a hotspot from your phone to use the navigation apps, which uses the built-in GPS antenna, the other is to use the built-in Apple CarPlay system, which uses the phone’s GPS for navigation. In my case, because I always travel to the outback during my vacations, some areas have no signal at all. So, I downloaded offline maps from the Play Store to use for navigation, which doesn’t need internet during navigation and only uses the built-in GPS. It saves your phone’s power at the same time, I guess?       300 series turbo issues

      We have a GR that had the 7th Injector replaced June 2024 (warning came up on dash Dec 2023 @ approx 18k) toyota cleaned injector in Jan when they inspected the problem and said parts will be 8 - 12 weeks (i dont know why so long for a common problem) but they advised to continue to drive / tow as normal. 3 months later parts arrived and they said they will complete job at june 2yr service interval. It was notated on paperwork torque bolts were re torqued. Today driving up blue mountains 70kmh to Katoomba towing 3.2T Zone RV van i experienced the turbo chirp on and off and the power dropping / surging. Lasted about 5-10 secs going up mountain but gave me a shock as havent experienced it before (hence the googling now and reading about previous issues) it didnt happen again but we arrived at caravan park 15 mins later and i didnt find a hill again with same steep incline as when it happened. In the 18 months of towing i havent experienced it before and car has been faultless. Todays trip was only fm Toowoon Bay to Katoomba so be interesting to see if it happens when we head to Bathurst in a few days on any steep inclines. Car is at 33k now. Currently 1 month into a 5 month trip.

      2013 Toyota Rav4 diesel head gasket issues

      Hi everyone .. I have a 2013 Toyota Rav4 diesel .. which has blown a head gasket at 120,000 kms while we were on holidays .. it is being repaired .. $5K later .. and I'm seriously thinking about selling it. Wondering if others have this issue or if it is a know deficiency in the diesels I have had 2 other Rav's both petrol with no issues like this and it is way too early in the life of the car to be dealing with these issues I would have thought.
