hello everyone,

I want to ask how many KM can a 2ZZ-GE engine does before a major repair of the engine? (eg. cylinder, cam......)

My 2000 celica has done 230,000km, quite a lot is highway KM, does it mean my car need a big repair soon?

Distance travelled has very little bearing on when an engine needs a rebuild. You're best off doing some checks to see how the engine is.

Does it consume oil?

Do a compression test, both dry and with a little oil in the cylinders. This allows you to see if the rings are on the way out or if the valves are bent. Above 210kpa is healthy, with a difference of no more than 15kpa between cylinders. When a small amount of oil is added the readings shouldn't change by much, if at all; if they do then the rings a worn.

Being a 2000 model, does lift still engage properly? The early 2zz's were prone to breaking a bolt that allowed lift to occur. The break wont affect anything other than lift not working.
