Whistling sound coming from the engine when engine braking

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Just wondering if there is a whistling sound coming when I engine brake in first or second gear what it could be. It has done just over 100 000k's so could it be timing belt. I think it was doing it in a first gear for a while, but just recently it started doing it in second.

When im downshifting at about 3000 revs, nothing then as it slows down it picks up. when i accelerate it all sounds normal.

anyone know what it could be???

I'm thinking it could be coming from the shift cables/linkages. You are looking for something that is vibrating while not under load from the engine/gearbox by the sounds of things. But there are still a lot fo options as to what it could be and I'm only guessing.
