Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up as to what might be going on with my '99 Echo. Every time I acclerate it makes a high pitched whirring/buzzing sound. It stops when I take my foot off the accelerator.

My mechanic pulled the alternator apart last time I had it serviced (last month) and told me that was fine (that was also making a strange noise) so I'm guessing it's nothing to do with that.

Any ideas or solutions would be great!

I've got a 2000 Corolla Levin. I know it’s a different car and all but when I took mine for a test drive I heard what I think is the same noise your hearing. I asked a Toyota only certified mechanic what it was and he said it was just the vehicle’s trait, nothing wrong. That was a year ago now and not one problem. Not saying that this is the case in your but perhaps try a Toyota certified mechanic to give you a defiant answer.
