Adam's SX Seca

Hey all, you probably don't know me very well since i'm from the twincam.org forums.

Was mentioned to me I should join up here to find some parts and think this may be a common visiting place from now on ;)

Thought I should post my car up on here:

Car is a '90 AE93 Corolla SX Seca.

I've owned the car for around 2 years now, and since then much has been customised, although you wouldn't know it.

Car is very stock looking, just the way I like to keep it, seems to be a more unique style these days.

It had approx 192,XXXkm/s run up when I bought it off an old couple in Sydney.

Replaced the shagged stock shocks and springs with KYB Twin Excel G struts and Kings Lows around 210,000km/s with great results and much better handling.

Also fitted a complete custom mandrel bent exhaust system to the car at the same time as well, with Pacemaker extractors and high flow cat naturally.

At around 214,000km/s the good old 4A-GE engine gave out (head and two bottom end bearings) due to a mechanics poor oil choice and a harsh past maintenance life.

It was then the car was given a complete Blacktop 20V transplant out of a Levin BZ-R.

Old engine:

And the new engine:

The engine is a stock Blacktop 20V with 6 Speed LSD Gearbox.

86,000km/s on the engine/box. Pulled out of the 98' Levin BZ-R halfcut by yours truly.

The aim was to keep the stock look of the car which I like, so all the wiring was made to match up with the original dash. All shifter modifications done would be unknown of inside the car.

Managed to reuse the original fuse box and loom (with heavy modification). The 6 speed reverse sensor was wired up, oil sensor swapped out and speedo assembly swapped out.

Oil pump has been changed.

All seals have been replaced.

All belts including timing belt replaced.

Water pump replaced.

Tensioner replaced.

Oil system flushed.

Coolant flushed and Levin radiator pressure tested and flushed.

K&N Panel Filter installed.

Pulled off the aircon compressor as it needent be used (the original car never had optional Air-Con.) and bolted on original tensioner pulley bracket from the old 4AGE. Stripped the ABS out also for obvious reasons.

Also had a custom exhaust made from the original manifold to the already very new system (from cat back) which included the plate for the O2 sensor to be bolted on.

Very happy with the results :)

Anyway that pretty much brings the car up to today. Although alot of other various parts have been replaced/touched up/refinished as i've gone along to bring it up to like new.

The paint is all original, just well looked after and polished by myself, wheels are also polished to mirror shine.

Has just undergone it's 5000km service after the engine was put in, everything is running perfectly with no problems, engine is pulling well and everything is smooth.

Please feel free to leave comments/questions! :)

Was hit across the front in Sydney by a moron in a 4WD running a red light, 2 weeks after finishing the engine. That was almost 3 months ago now though.

Was repaired professionally with all genuine parts sourced by myself. No chassis damage at all, was very lucky. These are recent pictures at a recent Dyno day.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wrapped some new Yokohama rubber on her, 14" C-Drive tyres.

BIG improvement over the $80 'Talon TRIANGLE' tyres that have been on the car the past 2 years...

Totally shocked at the improvement in the car now, don't know why I didn't do this sooner. Really was required when the suspension/bushings was replaced, had no idea I could push so much more out of the SX :)

Will post some more shots soon. Cheers for the comments all!
