Hey guys Over the past 6 months me n my dad have been rebuilding a 3s-ge to put in my st162. Despite a number of obstacles wev over come the engine is now in the car it will start but we cant get it to idle as soon as u let off the accelerater the engine dies.

Also we have a major oil leak when the engine is running but we cant tell where its coming from.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx In Advance

Does it rev normally though? Maybe idle speed is set too low, does it have an idle-speed adjuster screw on the throttle body (like a 4AGE)?

Vacuum leak? Does it rev smoothly or cough and splutter?

Degrease as much of the engine as you can, then crank it with plug boots pulled. If you have a major leak, you should start to see it after a little bit of cranking.

like the others said, check for vacuum leaks... ensure the pollution control is properly connected, or remove it and seal it.

make sure all the vacuum lines are connected to the right places. I will try and find a diagram for you.

ensure ALL the wiring is connected.

as for the oil leak, check all your gaskets and seals... things to look for are the dizzy, oil cooler, sump, etc. anywhere where there is a major ammount of oil flow.
