So here's where the other two TRDs end up

Going through the motoring section of a Malaysian newspaper, I came across this.

If the IS-F is an iron fist within a velvet glove, the Aurion TRD is a wolf in sheepís clothing.

For the uninitiated, the Aurion is the Camry's Australian and Middle East cousin. But instead of a 2.4-litre four cylinder engine found on our variant here, the Aurion comes exclusively with a 3.5-litre V6 engine.

This version however, is tuned by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and comes with a supercharger strapped to the engine, putting out a tantalising 400Nm of torque and 323hp through the front wheels.

The TRD tuned Aurion features a specially designed sports body kit, sports suspension, leather sports seats and bigger alloy wheels to stand out from the crowd of Toyota saloons. TRD Australia also beefed up the suspension and added extra bracing to stiffen the Aurion's chassis and handling characteristics to match the added power. Despite deploying such power carelessly does result in front wheel spin on the first two gears, the Aurion TRD feels rapid .

According to NAZA World, there is only one IS-F in Malaysia available for sale, and two Aurion TRD units available for sale at Naza Auto Mall. While the Aurion TRD is priced at Rm300,000, the IS-F is priced at Rm568,999. Don't let their limited numbers put you off as NAZA World is ready to bring in additional units upon customer's request. - Daniel Wong

Nice IS-F too.

btw, 300,000 Malaysian Ringgit= AUD 98,933.52 (Converted at time of posting.)

A member in one of the local Toyota car clubs works with them. I'll try to get him to find out the serial numbers of the two TRDs and hopefully, get the future owners to join TOCAU. :)

They will most probably be used / second hand from the dealer or private buyer. Imports like these are seldom sold new there as they would cost about the = of a Porche or Lambo we pay for here .... after converting of course ....

Crazy tax system <_<

This is a parallel import (In other words, not brought in by the authorized distributor.).

On top of the taxes, imported cars require a New or Used AP (Some kind of expensive permit to import a vehicle.) in Malaysia. PI dealers would bring new cars with a used car permit though (Something to do with taking advantage of a loophole (e.g. Some brands might be impossible to import through grey channels with a new car permit.) and paying less in taxes/ duties.)

Oh yeah, the yearly road tax there is calculated based on the engine size too, so 3.5L car= Ouchie.
