2004 Corolla hatch tail light: vandalised & in need of replacement!

Hi all,

I am posting a Q on behalf of my cousin who owns a 2004 Corolla AScent hatchback. She lives in rural Vic and has no internet.

Anyhoo, she claims that a "local" dealer quoted her $600 to replace her RH tail light. As above it was smashed in an act of vandalism. The actual electrics

still work just that is has a hole about 5 cm in diameter in it now.

Can anyone advise on whether this pricing sounds ridiculous and OTT? If anyone actually knows how much this item costs please advise!

I was looking on eBay for 2nd hand parts and there's a few around so I was thinking I might get it for her through there if the new price really

is $600. Im not really sure what I need to know other than the year, make and model to ensure I get the correct part. Any hints....

That won't surprise anyone here who has dealt with Toyota Genuine Parts. There's plenty of non-genuine stuff out there. Depends if she has a pre-facelift or a facelift model.

Pre-facelift has a sqaure indicator and reverse light:
