ECU tuner?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

This may be stupid..

but like I said, i don't know anything about performance tuning.

I talked with a couple of guys back here and they told me that i can tune the ECU.

also not really trusting what they are saying, so i'm asking you guys.

I browsed the internet and came across this item..

http://www.rhdjapan.com/power-enterprise-camcon-ti-50289

can you guys explain in simple English what its all about..?

please... ? mellow.gif

The Camcon is a lil box that lets you tune VVT(i). Not something you could get by itself, its more a compliment for something like a GReddy Emanage.

Aftermarket ECUs are really something you would install after a few initial mods, I/H/E etc. otherwise they're a big waste o money! Even more so if you add mods later as you need a fresh tune (not cheap!) after each mod.

Also beware that a lot of insurance companies dont like you having aftermarket ECUs, I know my previous one voids your warranty if you so much as have a boost controller!

yeah i would agree as above, unless you're going to seriously modify your motor, best just to stay with the standard ecu. otherwise it would be just a waste of money. why don't you try resetting your standard ecu before you drive it hard sometime,

i do it all the time before i hit up the tracks :)

how will reseting the ECU help?

I searched the forums and they talk about resetting the ecu and the drive the car 'mad' for the first 300km or so.

what kind of improvement will be noticable?

and you talk about aftermarket ECU. is the Camcon an aftermarket ECU? doe it replaces the factory one or does it let you tune/upgrade the factory one?

and i don't know what I/H/E is huh.gif

the camcon is just more like a piggy back rather than a ecu because is just adjust the vvt and air/fuel and aftermarket ecu is what u chasing after the e-manage or the apexi power fc and I/H/E will be stand for intake , header and exhaust

I have a Camcon on my VVT-i engine.

It's a piggyback ecu, it work togheter with the stock ecu.

Camcon allow you to set the camshaft degrees and the % of airfuel injection.

You must be able to find the right balance to obtain a linear power and torque graph.

the ecu basically adapts to your 'hard' driving. ecu is basically the brains of the motor so the more it gets used to something it will usually get used to it. there is a noticeable difference after i drive my car to work and so on for a long time say around 8 or 9 months i feel the car gets very sluggish at times, so i just simply reset the ecu and yes there is a little bit of noticeable difference in the motor's behavior.

sorry that i wrote so much but i couldn't explain it any shorter :)
