Sportivo Recall from years ago..

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just want to find out, was there an official recall from toyota aus re: the ECU and intake mod for the prefacelift stivo?

Were these the only things?

How do i know if it has been done before or not?

I had a look through all the service reciepts and can't see anything.

I wanna make sure before i call castle hill toyota tomorrow, and provide all the info and to make sure they know what im talking about.

Cheers

I seem to remember them having oil problems and some even siezing up ... but it was so long ago I can't remember the details sorry.

Oh, hang on ... just found this: http://www.notgoodenough.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=17852&sid=bbdc78b6814becf4661603235ca57d1a

I do remember hearing and reading other similar stories too. Seems like something was up with the oil pump perhaps ?! Dunno for sure.

geez i just read that link. that person DOES sound like a little kid chucking a tantrum <_<

blue-bear - give em ur VIN number and they should know exactly whats been done to it... not sure if they will replace the ECU if it hasn't been done so in the past. i also remembered that they really gear selector cables?

its in my warantee reciept so dont hold me on that...

GL mate :D

The engine troubles are news to me. The 2zz is a very strong engine. The oil pump can break, but that's only an issue with revving it over 9000 rpm, so not a Toyota problem since a 9000 rpm engine wont be stock.

To check for the recall open your intake filter box. Look inside the lid for a single plastic fin; if you have the single fin the recall has been done, if you have mesh then it hasn't been done.

kenshin, i gave them my VIN number and they said there were no outstanding recalls :D, they're quite good at castle hill toyota, one of the most helpful places.

ah, Kenshin, on a seperate note, i seem to have the same issue as you posted in your other thread with troubles getting into 2nd gear while in lift..
