Please help, Need some help on ta22/23 or Ra23

Hi Guys,

I have a few questions about getting an old Celica I wanted one as a kid for years but kind of let it go as I thought it wasnt smart as a first car but after seeing one today I think I will have to.

What is the best out of the Ta22, Ta23 & Ra23 differences etc? I already know that the 23 has a longer nose but is that about it?

I would be doing a ground up resto as Dad and I have restored a few cars just did a Datsun 260z...

So stripping back to paint, and re doing the whole thing isnt a huge problem I kind of want to do it anyway.

So what is prone to be bad in these cars with the age that they are? How do they go handling wise etc? As I would be on my P's yes this limits me to any real engine upgrades from what I have read I will be either dropping in a SR20 det or a 4age turbo once im legal.

TA22 had a 1600 so the 4AGE 20valve will fit in easily[ I know a guy who put in a v6 chev motor], ra23/26 had a 21rc or 21rg. And, yes it,s bonnet is larger, will fit 6cyl 2litre motor. Which can out on the the first Supras.

I had a RA23 coupe and it will be rusty under the parcel shelf. Not sure about the RA26 hatch.
