I have purchased a 2001 Celica ZR for my daughter. As you can see the grille mesh is missing. Is the mesh part of the body kit or the car itself? Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting it replaced?

There is no grill mesh from the factory. The radiator grill under the number plate was an optional extra accessory that matches the black plastic diamond lattice grill of the Toyota badge. It's very rare as very few purchased it.

The aftermarket wire mesh grills from Autobarn/Supercheap/etc would be an alternative.

You have to be kidding? It definately looks like something's missing.

I think it looks just right...

Surely you must have seen other Celicas around and noticed they don't have the rare grill?

I've never seen a grill on the TRD kit before either, only on the stock bumper.

I have no doubt you guys know your stuff, that's why I Googled you. No I've not looked at other Celicas. It just looks like leaves and other debris will get in there and damage the exposed radiator. The car must look horrible without the bodykit to at least partially disguise the gaping hole. Eveybody asks what happened to the grille, even my mechanic.

Or do you mean it would have had the grille before the kit was put on?

I don't think it would of had the grill beforehand. Those kits usually come like that from the factory, as it was a factory option.

Without the kit the 'gaping hole' is actually smaller, here's a pic of my old one for reference:

Never had a problem with stuff getting into the radiator, its a bit tougher then you think.

I was referring to the OEM lower front grille that was an optional accessory

that grille is now obsolete from toyota and was not factory fitted on Aust cars. it was a standard fitrment in US market cars 2002/03. the very early bars dont have the fixtures for it. i have sucessfully fitted my own mesh grille to solve the on-going problem of damage to the air-con condensor
