Stripped the sump plug on a 91 Hilux LN 105 Diesel and need to remove the sump to be able to recut the thread (oil pickup is in the way to be able to do it while still on the car).

All the bolts are out and have broken the seal all the way around, apart from at the very rear of the sump where it goes over the bell housing.

Have tried everything to break the seal but it is as if there is something inside the sump just holding this rear section.

Has anyone removed one of these sumps before and was is just a case of keeping at it until the seal broke?
