G'day,

I bought my 2.8D Dual Cab Hilux (1993) with 113K on the clock, I don't have a manual and was wondering when the timing belt should be changed? The light hasn't come on since I bought it and I'm not sure if it'd been changed prior to me buying it

It has 33" tyres so it's done more than the 125K currently showing on the clock

Typically its 150K or 160K for most Toyota. The light will come on when its due (provided the bulb is OK). It was 160K km on my 1KZ-TE engine.

Belt should be replaced at 100000klms, you should also replace tensioner and idler pulleys, and it is a good idea to replace cam and crank seal. You can purchase a kit from repco, coventrys or most parts shops that contain all you need. check the crank and cam shafts for wear under the seals (ie groove) you may need to speedi sleeve the shafts if they are worn. to speedi sleeve the crank you will need to be carefull and reverse the sleeve (ie fit it the other way round) to get it to fit.

I've only just bought my 1992 4runner diesel and have a few questions on the aircon.

so I'll refer you to a new thread if you don't mind.

The initial topic on this thread did not get a good response.

Where are all those 4x4 toyota drivers with techical know how?
