2005 Hiace Fuel Pump

Hi guys,

Have recently filled my van with some dodgey fuel and believe I have blocked my fuel filter. I have been told that the filter/pump on this model Hiace is in the tank itself. Can anyone give me an idea how I would go about changing the pump/filter? Must I drop the fuel tank from the van, or is there an access panel above the tank etc?

Any tips would be much appreciated! I am based in the outback at the moment and will be doing the work myself.

Can the fuel filter be replaced seperate, or does the pump have to be replaced as well??

It is a 2005 Hiace 2.7 Ltr Petrol.

I think you can get to the fuel pump from inside the rear. There is a cover plate just inside the sliding door on the load surface if you have a rear floor mat it is under that. the pump and filter i believe is 1 unit on most EFI systems if you run out of fuel or drop below 1/4 tank the filter can collapse in turn blocking the fuel inlet ( you then think you have a bad load of fuel)
