Hiace instrument panel dimmer

Is it possible to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel on a 2007 Hiace? The brightness is just right when the headlights are off, but when the headlights are on it is barely readable. I thought that is a very basic function on all cars but just cannot find the adjustment switch on the Hiace. That wouldn't be an optional upgrade would it?

Not sure that his will help but when I got my 2002 corolla wagon I was looking

for the dimmer adjustment as I never had a digital instrument panel before.

If the Hi-Ace has a digital this may be the solution.

It turns out it is done with the odometer button on the speedometer panel.

Push the odometer button a couple of times and in the case of the Corolla it comes up

with a row something like _ _ = = = and when you push the odometer button

the number of the _ _ = changes, the brighter the background light the more _ = on the screen.

Thanks for responding. My Corolla has the --=== bars at the odometer display, but not on the Hiace, it only cycles through odo/trip a/b. Where is the manual when you need it :-)

Turns out need to turn on the headlights for the bar --=== option to show, it's all good!
