Need advice on dealership warranty for a 2011 Aurion

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just bought a 2011 Aurion from Toyota in Airport West & trying to figure out whether I buy the extended warranty. It's $1290 for 3 years (not 2- caryard special) & I can get the car serviced from any licenced mechanic - not just Toyota. Toyota's are great cars & I'm unsure whether it's worth the money (as I don't expect it to have oil leaks, etc.) & it has 18 months of new car warranty left on it anyway.

I use this car to drive to work & back and I'm not a hoon - interested to know people's thoughts. if you say no, I'd like to know why too. Warranty looks fairly extensive.

Thanks

What company is the warranty offered by?

If it is a Toyota or National warranty go for it....

People get stung big time by the warranties offering 3 years 150,000klms as they a loyalty warranties and you have to get them serviced at the dealer you bought it from.... This means they can charge you to repair anything they want....

Warranty is from Toyota dealership - thanks for your advice Dan & I know what you mean (that I could service it anywhere was only clarified for me today.)

Why do dealerships rip people off with serving. Their labour & "genuine parts" are normally a rip-off but sometimes the cheaper parts aren't any good & their fluid (like oil etc.) are normally pretty good (according to ex mechanics that I have spoken to).

Mind you, while under new car warranty, Toyota have $130 fixed price servicing (which seems pretty good for labour anyway.)

If you're in Melbourne DO NOT, go to the one on Geelong Road.. They're completely hopeless..

Ordering my car from them was the most worst experience I have ever had in terms of customer service..

I was getting my car fitted with optional extras, calling them up, they had no clue what was going into the car or anything.. they're very poor at managing themselves that's for sure

Lemans Toyota Tottenham? If so, I bought my car from their dealership when they were still down the road at Footscray, and they were pretty good. Probably because I negotiated with their sales manager, I don't know. Their service was sub-standard, which has marginally improved recently when I got my Aurion serviced there.

  • 2 weeks later...

I bought my extended warranty from the same dealer as above. Best purchase ever.

I saved a bucket load of money in repairs that would have cost thousands if I didn't get the toyota extended care warranty. That warranty is no different than the first three year new car warranty.
