2008 Kluger KX-R roof rust

Hello,

I am looking at buying a second hand car.

Everything looked good until I noticed this roof rust.

I am not sure how bad it is, but I am after some feedback.

-How bad would you say it was?

-Is it going to cost a lot of money to fix it. Like >$1,000?

-Should I steer clear of buying the car?

Some people say car rust is like car cancer.

It is a shame, because everything else on this car is great condition.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is not a “bad” rust like on a seam or around hinges for example. This looks like stone damage not attended to. One of those “chip fixer” guys could get down to the metal and repair quite successfully, IMO.

Strange that the owner allowed this to persist yet you say he looked after the rest of the car enough to make it a worthwhile deal.

Thank you. I appreciate your opinion.

I had a look on google yesterday, but do you have any recommendations as to where I could possibly get it fixed in Sydney?

I got a quotation based on the photos for $800. The panel beater can give a more accurate quote when he sees it in person, but I will shop around as I have decided to buy the car.

Thanks for your feedback.
