Hazards flash when using indicator stalk

Hi guys,

We recently picked up a 2000 base model Tarago and we're quite happy with it. However, tonight we came across a very odd issue:

When we indicate, the hazards will flash. However, it's a little more complicated... If I indicate right, I'll get hazards, but the left hazard will flash slightly dimmer than if I had hit the actual hazards button and vice versa - the right indicator flashes a little dimmer than proper hazards mode when indicating left.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Cheers,

Simon

Could be a short or a bad earth. From memory, they do both use the same flasher relay. Unless you are handy with a multimeter/electrical circuit testing, I would suggest an auto electrician.

Thanks Trent,

So you don't think it's the flasher itself then? I can confirm that the hazards & indicators run off the same flasher unit (I've yanked it and neither operate now).

Hi guys,

Checked the hazards plug was pushed all the way in. Was also having the problem with the hazards switch unplugged all together. Taking it to the auto elec as I'm useless with this kind of stuff. I'll let you guys know a diagnosis.

Cheers,

Simon

Update...

Bloody trailer plug was corroded and wires were touching that shouldn't touch. Cost $135 to find out and get fixed. I wish I wasn't a noob with autoelecs, lol.

Thanks for your input guys!
