Vortex 98 for Brizzy

Hi Guys,

Had a chat with a Caltex exec today who adv that they are currently upgrading their refinery in Brizzy to distil low sulphur diesel & 98 octane unleaded. The work should be completed by 2nd qtr '06 and should reach servo's by early 3rd qtr.

Just thought the Brizzy Crew might be interested. Save up those Woolies coupons!!!!

Caltex apparently haven't sold low sulphur diesel anywhere in Australia yet ... GoAuto - Caltex in trouble ...

we've been buying low sulphur diesel for years, its all we are allowed to buy because of emmision laws.

unless they are talking about the "almost" zero sulphur diesel they sell in europe which apparently is coming here also... not sure.

On January 1, Australian emission laws required a sulphur content of 50ppm or less, in Europe the figure is 15ppm, which America is in the process of adopting.

If Caltex are taking a couple of more months to produce the 50ppm, we can't expect 15ppm from them for a long time yet!

got an email today from Caltex regarding this, it appears that "Low Sulphur Diesel" has been on sale for years, and they are introducing "Ultra-low Sulphur Diesel" into australia early this year so that light model diesel cars (mainly european) are able to run to their potential and correct EuroIV emmision standards. Ultra-low diesel is 50ppm, not sure what normal low sulphur diesel is, it might just be a name? who knows. but they are hoping to have most of australia with 50ppm Ultra low diesel by the end of the year.

but you guys dont have Vortex 98 yet? im sure i saw some when i was up there, you're missing out!

shell have brought out a 100 octane fuel. you can only get it at certain sydney servos but its worth it i noticed a difference in performance!

Isn't it that 10% ethanol stuff? If so it's been out for a while hasn't it? I can't see it being very good for rubber fuel lines and such.

Oh and diesel - settle down fellas, we aren't even using it!

The 15ppm diesel in Europe is considered Ultra Low, so one would assume that 50ppm would just be Low.
