New Bunky 05 Sportivo WA

Recommended Posts

hello guys, first post here :)

Picked up an 05 facelift sportivo for very cheap a couple of days ago, the kid didn't have insurance so it was still registered despite the airbags going off. its completely stock standard with low k's for the year and is in pretty good condition besides the front of it.

first few pics is how it was when i bought it, drove it home swell stopping every k or so to top up the radiator as it had a small crack in it.

Day 2

Got up early and started messing around with it, pulled the front intrusion bar out the best i could to discover a gaping hole in the aircon panel. magically the aircon still works perfectly, the radiator  and thermofan was a different story.

Did round 1 of the panel beating and went an picked up a radiator and thermo from the wreckers.

this is how she sat after round 1

Day 2 part 2

pulled the bumper off again, drained what was left of the old coolant and replaced the rad with a new one. currently only running dematerialised water and will be doing another change in a week or so with genuine toyota red coolant.

after changing the rad i decided i wasn't happy with the way the front end sat especially the passenger headlight, so I messed around with that for a few more hours to get it sitting how it is now.

Also cut the airbags out as they were ****** me off

Took it for its proper maiden run with the locked up seatbelts and smashed windscreen, very surprised at what a decent car this is! have had about 35 toyotas in the last 5 years and this is a standout (along with the LS400, Starlet, ae82 twinky and AE111 trueno). drives great, handles great, heaps of power despite being stock as a rock. not bad considering e hit a tow ball at 25kph.

  • 2 weeks later...

small update, have been looking around for parts to no avail. seems to be a real shortage of any facelift corollas being wrecked. got the windscreen replaced, and pulled the seatbelts apart and got them working again though they dont lock anymore so in the event of an accident im totally screwed lol. I have some ideas in the mix for the car, stay tuned :)
