Replace factory default reverse camera with after market

I installed an aftermarket nav/gps/reverse camera head unit.

Bought it on ebay, did not realise that the factory reverse camera cable connection is not compatible with the head unit.

My question is, do I have to replace the camera with an after market camera or is it enough use the old camera but change the cables ?

The ebay shop I bought the unit from suggest these options:

Hi Vegemite, I'm looking at getting an aftermarket head unit for my 2016 Kluger. 

I have already made inquiries about this with a couple of retailers, & they all told me that the unit I have chosen (Pioneer 8850BT) will work with the factory camera. Maybe all you need is an adapter for yours.

I will need a replacement aerial for the FM/AM, & there are wiring harnesses for the steering wheel controls, although the volume & track seek buttons will definitely work, but they are unsure about the phone "Answer" & "Hang-up" as well as the voice control button.

How did you go with your steering wheel controls?

I have an alpine head unit with camera input and 3 aerpro wiring harnesses. One to control via the steering wheel (all buttons work) and one to go from alpine to iso and iso to toyota. It all fits in the dash but you nay need some spacers for the fascia. Mine is a 2009 and Toyota use extra wide cutouts for the head unit. As far as reverse - its a different wiring layout so without proper instruction i didnt touch it. Next time i have the fascia off ill wire a front facing camera in. Much more useful as i have no front sensors.
