2009 Toyota Corolla - Radio display distorted when car is cold

Greetings everyone. My first time here. 

The Stock LCD radio just shows black squares usually in the morning when its relatively cold. The car is a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE it has 80K. The LCD is back when it gets warmer. No idea why.  

I am thinking the dealer will try to charge me an arm and a leg for looking into it.

Is there something I can do it myself? I am thinking maybe doing a radio factory set?

Honestly, you are probably better off purchasing a new, aftermarket head unit rather than trying to repair it.

We have never experienced anything like that with ours, but it appears that the screen is starting to die.
