Hi.  Need some info.  I picked up a 2nd hand Corolla on Monday.  But found rust!

It is a 2016 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport Auto. So rust would be unusual.

However on closer inspection it appears to be perhaps "packing material" (used during manufacture or shipping).

I took it back to the sales yard but the used car dealer (a Toyota agent) said they're aware - it is on other 2015 Corollas on their lot too - and they've been told not to remove it.

It's on both rear doors.

It makes the car look pretty awful.

Is my dealer misinformed?

What is it??!

Who has peeled it off before? Who has not (and why not)?
