Interchangeable parts

I've got an old 1994 Townace van that runs well but has a few issues with some of its other bits.  Took it into a well known suspension place and was basically told all the bushes, ball joints and tie rod ends needed replacing (knew this before going there), and the lower uni on the steering was badly corroded.  They won't do the work for fear of damaging parts they can't replace, and said it was a low import model which made it near impossible to get parts. Is this true?

Given that it is a Toyota, there must be some other models that share common steering and suspension parts.  My question is does anyone know which vehicles they are?

Spacia (same chassis as the Liteace/Townace, just the passenger version) and quite possibly the YR20 Tarago would be worth checking out for replacements.  The Tarago is probably the most common out of them but we're still talking about a 20-30yo car so be prepared to go wrecker-diving (and don't expect many places to stock new parts)

Thanks. Didn't even think of the YR20 Tarago.  A few years earlier but worth checking on.  And your correct in saying its a wrecker diving expedition as have already been down there looking for a rear door latch.
