Hello there guys.

I am helping a young man with his '98 Land Cruiser Prado, it had been hard to get started, and the owner had replaced the glow plugs but with no luck, the glow plug system it working correctly.

This engine is the older type of engine or the sturdy 1KZTE with the old type  of fuel injectors and injection pump.

But, I primed it with the hand pump on the fuel filter and I noticed that the fuel system did not seem to be topped up until after few strokes on the priming pump, now the engine starts normally (these engines seem to me to always need few turns before running).

My question is:

1. Is there a electric fuel transfer pump some where in these cars? (I can not find it at least in the Toyota EPC web site)
2. Is there a some sort of a valve that might leak fuel from the fuel pum when the engine is stop for several days?

Best Regards
Ivar.
