RT40 Corona questions (as well as some ideas/answers)

G'day, I'm gonna ask a few questions here, but I'm also gonna give some advice about some of my ideas and observations I've made with RT40 Coronas. My dad's owned several.

Firstly, the alternator is pretty useless on these cars, and has an external Voltage regulator.....I'm sure it could easily be replaced with a Bosch unit off something like an XF Falcon. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Removing the ignition switch and simply plugging it in upside down will start the car. I assume this would be the case for many Toyotas of the same era. Beware ! Install a kill switch !

Do all "R" Series engines; such as 2R, 12R, 5R and 18R use the same bellhousing pattern? I'd assume so.....are the 4 speed Corona manual boxes up to much? or are they pretty weak? What about a Celica box? I hear they are pretty strong....will they fit easily?

Any options for an Electronic distributor for a 2R?

What front disc brake setups will fit these?

Are there any LSD diffs that could be made to fit easily?

Cheers, Gab
