Ok .. searched and found cleaning tips for sponge based filters .. but what about the material/paper based ones ???

I presume careful cleaning with water and dry will do the job .. and then ... is it required to be oiled ...

I cleaned mine (AEM pod) which is a gauze type pod I think, by this method.

Rinse it with water to get rid of any lose particles.

Use a bucket and put some detergent and water in there and massage the detergent into the filter paying close attention to the more dirty area.

Then rinse it with water again thoroughly

Backflush it (fill the pod from the inside and let the water drain out through the pores) this will unclog all the pores.

Then let it dry.

Apply some oil (I used K&N filter oil) which acts as a water repallant.

Massage the oil in (follow the insructions on the bottle)

Let the oil dry overnight if you can.

Then pop it back on the end of the pipe.

when drying, it is best to let it air-dry, do not force dry it with a hairdryer or put in an oven...
