rear whiper - where to get one

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap rear whiper for a corolla hatch? Mine kinda "fell" off. Does anyone know if they make aftermarket ones and how much? I know toyota will charge thru the roof.

Am I allowed to legally leave it off? Thinking of getting it welded over coz i kinda like it without one if it wasnt for the dam knobby bit hanging out. If im shaving that I might as well do the back door handles too. hmmm decisions.

Maybe for now ill just replace it. Anyone got one or know how much?

wait wait wait lemme get this straight- your rear wiper "fell off", so instead of forking out the $$$ to replace the part, you want 2 get a welder to close the hole off instead?

ok umm.. think it may be a cheaper option to buy the wiper, dude!

when it comes 2 welding over stuff like that or shaving off the door handles so ur car looks cleaner, youll have 2 fork out a lot of money 2 get it done right.

you COULD get it done for cheap... hell i got a migwelder at home lemme do it 4 u! $50! less 4 cash! :P

you could get a bodyshop to fill the hole with a peice of sheetmetal and weld it on, grind the joins down smooth and paint it over... but in a few years, the metal would probebly warp and you would be able to see the shape of the hole again.. wont look pretty. itll look like a bad panelbeaterjob....

saw how they do that kind of job properly on the DIY channel on foxtel... they showed how to shave off the door handles off a accord or was it a civic? anyway it was a "showcar".. some kinda honda... 2door. i think "sandblasting" was involved.. not sure what it was called, but it involved a lot of sparks.

but yea either go to a wreckers specialising in toyota parts or get the new genuine part from toyota.

thats just my 2centz...

oh yea if memory serves me correctly, that doorshaving proceedure cost $1000+(US) for smoothing over the holes left behind after the door handles were removed.

jase.

havent u ever heard of blu tac and a spray can? :P

Nah it was just a thought coz it looks good without the whiper but ill probly just replace it. If I ever did a full respray of any car I'd shave the door handles, indicators, etc.

taking off the wiper is not a hard task. just depends on how far you want to go and your budget.

wiper might cost at most 80$ from a wrecker ( 3k from toyota lol) and anywhere from 800 - 1200 for the removing of wiper.

g/f has had her indicators removed on an echo and it still looks awesome even after sitting out in the weather for the past 2 years.

If I was gunna I would also smooth off where the toyota badge is so I could get rid of it. Really sh*ts me how toyota did that to the boot. I hate badges!

But looks like ill get a new whiper. Having 2 mortgages seems to make me go for the cheaper option these days. I did crunch it good though. lol

whats the plan with the indicators? cos its illegal to get rid of em with out having something on the side to signal u are turning... any good ideas? cos the only thing i can think of is the side mirrors :(

Yep, definitly illegal with out side indicators - you could do what the trucks and some 4wd's do and run side lamps down the sides - on the skirts - probably look a bit poxy on a rolla and they could'nt be any other colour than yellow. Not sure how 'visible' it would be - works on 4wd's cause their up higher like trucks........hmmmm

it would be a matter of moving them to the side mirrors.

I have a mate who was building a 94 accord up. He shaved off everything but it was gunna be purely for show. Unfortunately he sold it due to lack of funds to finish it, so I dont know whats happened to it now. Had suicide rear doors, story book boot lid, bonnet flipped foward, no door handles, mirrors, or spot for a numberplate (would just strap one on when needed). The wackiest thing ever tho was no tail lights. Completely removed and ran slimline LEDs in the lower rear window for brakes/indicators/etc. Shame it didnt get past body prep point.

suicide doors would be interesting.. i was actually thinking of modding my doors either with suicide or lambo doorz :P

but yea wouldnt do that sorta mod unless i really wanted a showcar.... i go 2 work/uni/groceryshopping in mine so it aint practical at all.

those kinda modz on a regular rolla would be like wearing a tux for a birthday party at mcdonaldz
