It has been raining here all day so it hasnt been the best day to get the recall work done. But needless to say in the wet the wheels spin when im in a straight line now when i put the foot down in 2nd gear.....and 3rd almost looses grip (WITHOUT LIFT!!!!)
Certainly feels like there is almost a new mid range cam when you are between 4000 - 6000 RPM.
Havent had a chance to play in lift yet due to the weather. I will save that for the weekend ;)
So far I'm impressed. Feels like a new car altogether. 8 out of 10 rating so far with dry tests to come :D

I think that miss match of drags came down to the driver and not the car myself ;)

So how many people have actually got the new cables and gear knob???
As I have numerous times called my dealer for information on this issue. He finally called Matt's dealer (thx for the number btw) on which he comes back to me with
"The gear selector cables that you are talking about are not a 'fix' for the issue and have not been released by Toyota officaily" " There fore we wont be getting it done for you!"
If this is the case then how come people here in the Forum and coming back with positive results?? Where are toyota getting these so called ' no resolve' comments from...
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Oil temp needs to be 70+ Deg Celcius if my memory serves me correct before it can reroute the oil and engauge the lift mechanism.
So hence why if you go too hard too early all you get to is the 5-6K RPM the same thing happens when you are in neutral and rev the engine. It will not engauge lift at all and will bounce at 6K RPM i think.

Yet again the TRD CAI has shown itself to be one of the best bang for your buck (TRD) upgrades that we can do for both the 1zz-fe and the 2zz-ge engines :D
With an average of 6 - 8 kW at the wheels improvement
YAY for northy :) :D :P

Sorry I worded that a little wrong.
Yes you are right Blue, in that its NOT part of the recall but alot of people are trying to get the cables done at the same time to save time and effort.
'Hence' my original question :)
-
One thing that seems to be aparent in the talk of the recent recall, is that alot of dealers have not heard anything about the gear selector cables that can/are to be replaced along with the ECU and air cap.
If anyone (esp. the WA boys) could supply the rest of us with the part number for the cable. That would be greatly appreciated, and also stop alot of us ripping our hair out from niave and or stupid toyota service reps.

welcome tangcla :D

ummm.....they were only supposed to be sent out on Monday the 23rd.

I read an interesting article in a magazine (europe) about rolling up the inside of arches for such particular cases. Basically you go to town on the inside of your arch with a blow torch and a hammer and then you use a baseball bat to roll it out and make it smooth again.
Although this kind of work is to be taken very easily at any time and dont go too gun ho other wise you end up with nice big bulges in your arches which dont look cool.
If anyone is interested in the article I can post it for you.?

Ill let shao answer that Q if he wants to ZEE ;)

Was a great day indeed :D "YAY NORTHY!!!"
Was great to see the Stivo and ascent/levin guys geeting together and having a good time on the track. We could literally do a run then drive back and line up again (which we did numerous times)
Was good to also race against someone other than Shao although we managed to have our fair share in our personal 'grudge match' ;)
Once things have been finished with the recall we will hit the track again and see how the times differ :D
