  1. Here are a few pics to help you all out when fitting the TRD CAI. As a few of the pics are hard to see in the readme guide supplied.

    brown_vsv.jpg

This shows the pipes of the brown vsv which is not needed. anything from the blue gormmet onwards can be removed (remember to close off the hose)

    bracket_cut.jpg

This shows the bracket which needs to be cut before installing (as the bracket is made for the XR-S not our sportivo)

    blue_vsv.jpg

This shows the piping as it should be once it is finished (note the hose coming in from the side is the new hose which you get in the box)

    no_vsv.jpg

Another shot of the final piping without the sensor for a better view

    pod_down.jpg

The view of the pod (straight is good :) )

    pod_fog.jpg

The amount of room between the fog light and the pod is important. dont want all that hot air from the light getting in (this pod can be pushed up higher also for more clearance)

  2. NOTE that I am UNICHIP BIAS

powerchip = $2200 fitted an tuned (around 7kW gains@ flywheel)

Unichip = $1200 fitted and tuned (can be as much at 18kW gains @ flywheel)

Xoom , Peekay34 (edit for PAULS benefit) both have unichips installed with great results.

From memory the unichip has 200+ tununing points for ignition timing and fuel. The powerchip doesnt have close to this.

There are a few places in brissy that do the unichip (look at my sticky note at top of corolla and go to CNJ motorsport)

    UniChip dealers AUS wide

Also Apex Motor Sport down the gold coast offers the Powerchip but they are reluctant to bring the down price. (although they are working on a new chip for our car)

peekay results of install for Unichip

  3. Practice makes perfect. alot of the time we think that we have to bring the clutch out all the way before getting ont the gas. not the case. as soon os you gear leaver passes the neurtal zone get onto the gas straight away. the 2nd gear will pop in by itself and that cuts 1/2 second of the gear change.

The landing of the lift change will cause a weel chirp as hames pointed out.....

    CHIRP + SUCCESS :D :D :D

there are also other ways of getting the perfect change But do so at your own risk

  4. But as I have pointed out before 'try not to speculate on this issue too much' I would hate for us all to get our hopes up for a new induction and or power increase

I can not stress how important this is. we dont want to go to Toyota with incorrect information.

We need something in writting along the lines of what Bill got before we can 'make' them do something for us.

If we dont do our research before you go ahead with a 'threat' then you will be the one with egg on your face.

dont get too gun ho guys. By all means approach toyota as a group to enquire what the issue is but dont go in all guns blazing saying "where is our power increase fix!?"

  5. E - the 00602-17802-002 model of TRD CAI is made for the Base + XR Matrix, CE + LE Corolla (USA)

The 00602-17802-001 is for the XR-S Matrix (2003)

I'm not familiar with the differences bewteen the 2 models, but to be safe I would go with the 001 ;)

P.S I will be doing a new install guide for the CAI (hopefully before I go OS next week) with new pictures and tips for the Aussie install. If it is done intime (will get peekay to prof read also) I will pass onto you all :D

  6. Seriously tho I wonder if you guys actually dyno'ing your stivos, and posting results here forced Toyota to finally admit this publically....give yourselves a pat on the back fellas..

Might have to paste it up on a few more sites and pass a few directly onto Toyota HO ;)

Honestly though it would be interesting to know what kind of info they have been looking at both internally and externally (forums etc.) to derive an answer or to base their reports on.

Quiksilver - I'm reluctant to think that we are looking at a power figure level in the case of the Sportivo in AUS. IMHO I am going along the lines of jaymed in the fact thats its a noise related issue.

But as I have pointed out before 'try not to speculate on this issue too much' I would hate for us all to get our hopes up for a new induction and or power increase to find out that they end up putting a big muffler on the car and making it sound like a Barina :(

  7. As alot of you have recently bought the japanese TRD Front Tower Strut Brace, I though I might pass on a quick couple of tips for when you install it.

1 - You will notice a aluminium hose coming out of the firewall from behind the engine on the right and running along the back of the engine down into a rubber hose to the front left of the engine.

2 - CAREFULLY bend the bracket that holds this bar (bracket is where aluminium and rubber meet) down so that the bar does not sit as high.

This is because the strut bar will actually be sitting on top of this bar when you first install it

3 - Becarefull also that the aluminium bar is not pressing onto the brake lines (4 small tubes next to each other)

4 - If need be carefully bend the aluminium pipe so that it sits better. Be careful though of the plastic clip which hold this bar behind the engine. too much pressure can cause this to clip open and or snap.

  8. My friend who is a Car Detailer put me onto 'Mothers' Leather Cleaner and 'Mothers' Leather Treatment/Conditioner (Bright red bottles)

The cleaner is a pump pack spray. You just use a normal cloth to apply and use (you dont need alot either)

The treatment is more of a cream and HAS to be applied with a terry towling cloth for best results. It does take a while to do, but the result is worth it.

Only downside to using these kinds of prodicts is that you have to keep at it every 2 months or so. As the leather can dry out and crack in some cases.

  9. Well the First QLD Sportivo cruise happened this weekend the 13th.

Whilst we didnt have as many cars as as the VIC day we had a great turnout and alot of fun doing the Nebo/Glorious peaks run. (2nd only to Pikes Peak) :P

    QLD Cruise - Events posts

Dont forget to go have a look at our photos from the day in the following gallery.

QLD Pics -> Thank you to Noel

These photos were taken by my Mate Noel. Special thankyou goes out to him for doing this for us during the day.

  10. Firstly HUGE thank you goes out to all of the people that came along on the Cruise (hungover or not)

It was a great day :D we started off at our meeting spot then we headed over to Toyota Headquaters, where we turned a few heads. Then we drove through Brisbane and went over Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious. Had a few photos (see gallery) then headed back over the mountains again and onto home.

Big Thanks go out to my mate Noel for taking a day out to take photos for us and coming along for some fun.

Was an experiance also for a few people who had never driven their Sportivos like that before :) a nice winters day 24deg and a mountain or two = BIG SMILES ALL ROUND :D :D :D :D

In total we had 10 cars :) not quite as many as the VIC cruise but we did ourselves proud I think.

  11. And Seeing as how I suggested it I get 2nd :P...

  12. sorry for the bad image :( didnt have much at work to do anything with :(

thx shao for pics. Also apologise for the late change in plans. but I think it would be good for us to rock on up to the Toyota Day festivites and 'show off' our cars. then we can have a great cruise up over the mountain.

I will be making some photocopy's of maps and a guide for us all to use from Toyota day to the mountain. We will also be having a couple of stop points along the way so no one should get lost once we all start ;) (not even you michael :P )

List is now up to 10 cars :D

So it should make for a GREAT photo OP :) I have a professional photographer coming along for the day also (well not a pro just a mate but he loves cars/photos and goes great work)

So see you all at griffith uni 9.00 -> 9.30 am on Sunday :D

  13. Found out about a new shop in the Brisbane area. It seems that a mate of a mate opened a new work/tune shop on Lytton road called Predator Motorsport.

I popped in last night and had a chat to them about exhaust/mufflers for the Stivo and we worked out a custom system for me. (VERY NICE!!!!! :D )

I heard that Sportiv was looking for mufflers etc. and I know I am but if anyone else on here is looking for a new place for any mods, suspension, turbo's, ducting, gauges etc.

Call Matthew Simpson 39027711 and tell him I sent you (Craig Sadler)

also check out his 700+ kW GTR whilst your there
