  1. Get a full boot install in your boot with a couple of subs and watch the back of your car sink and scrape along the ground

I have low springs that look lower than superlows thanks to the extra weight :D

But then again.. I also run a second slower than a stock corolla and have a few performance things :lol::lol::lol::lol:

  2. $27 d/awy????

hmm! i've been to big rock and city toyota in perth, and both have quoted me verbally 32 d/awy.

can't be 5k stamp duty and on-road costs can it? (I realise WA has the highest stamp duty, but it can't be -that- bad...)

I'm in Perth too. You wont get much cheaper than 31-32k drive away here im afraid.

Apparently the scarborough beach toyota is one of the best to buy from in regards to getting a good price. I went to melville to look at a sportivo and they quoted me $32k with a really bad trade in price for an 01 celica.

*** knows why the dealers here are such tight *****'s <_< I had to argue for a couple of days just to get free floormats with my ascent when I bought it brand new.

  3. thanks guys..

i am thinking along the lines of some entry level msports if i get the sportivo; and twisties.

any regrets buying the car? how much of a drag are the gearbox issues?

There are no gearbox issues. You misunderstood. I broke my gearbox in my WRX.

Set the sportivo up for good handling and I think you would actually get some very competitive times. There are plenty of parts available. TRD, whiteline and cusco (I think) to name a few.

With the new cars there are no real dramas from what has been posted on these forums or from what i've personally heard. The 03-04 models did have a few bugs in though.

Remember though.. the sportivo isn't water proof on a track so try to steer clear of any lakes  (so so sorry ... just had to say it :P )

  4. I took the 05 sportivo for a test drive as well. And like you I was dissapointed after reading all the hype from these forums. I hit lift a couple of times which actually seemed a little weak compared to the 01 celica I had been driving around for a few weeks.

It's got bang for your buck thats for sure... but I felt it need that little extra 'umph' so to speak. Yes you can modify a car to get it... but hey... its nice to buy a stocker that has the right feel in it to begin with.

I couldn't get over the high pitch of the car. I noticed it majorly and really couldn't get used to it whilst I was driving.

However im sure once you get used to it and so on its a great little car to drive. I still love driving my ascent around time to time. But nothing beats my rex :D (well... apart from breaking the gearbox and having the car off road for a month to fix it  )

  5. I think maybe one more repost of this video is in order to provide that 'oh f.c.u.k what the hell have I done' look that map81 provides the camera should do this video jusitice

Normally I wouldn't say 'bad repost' but the topic with this video is still being discussed on ... its not even on the next page yet!

  6. Custom work? Yay!! :D

For my headunit I thought the whole 'two trays' thing looked a bit unattractive. So the screen and headunit are mounted bang in the middle of that compartment. I think it looks great, looks better with a beefy headunit like mine. The pioneer screen I have is amazing as well. Great touchscreen and amazing imporvement on sound etc. RRP price is $4400.

Here is a pic of that headunit http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...rage_mod&id=288

I'm not too sure about hiding things in the actual dash, could be a little bit risky or cramped. Two places for large pieces of equipment are under the passenger and driver seats. Another place is in the actual door trim. And another place which I have used to full advantage is just behind the rear seats. Since I have a custom boot install the fibreglass covers it up and everything can tuck away nice and neatly there.

Another thing I have often thought about is an actual computer in the car. Like a proper PC. It looks to be like this can be achievable. This would make your project incredibly easy. Especially if you can somehow manage to hook to the PC up to the touchscreen. Buy a simple computer such as a motherboard with built in graphics board, some ram and a nice processor and that should be all you need for a PC. a small custom box could then be made for it which could slot into whereever you wanted it to go. Two ideal places are either the glovebox (which is a no no for you) or the center bit where most people store cd's and so on... where you can rest your arm whilst driving. If you have all power on buttons facing up and all usb ports/other ports facing up as well this should be more than possible.

Don't think you need to go exclusivly alpine to get your ipod to work with your headunit either. There are soon to be many headunits with that feature.. just be patient on that one.

The compartments in the console are fine to get rid of. In my WRX I have gotten rid of my ashtray compartment and put a turbo timer in there. Its mounted in properly to look good in the exact same way my headunit from the corolla is.

Speakers will be very important for your system. I urge you not to buy brand name speakers and instead go with the speakers that actually try hard to get quality. I would recommend Tru Technology amps, they are amazing. I would recommend rainbow speakers if you are wanting a clear sound and it's not for r&b music non stop. I would also recommend DD subwoofers, simply amazing subs.

Also one other thing, for wireless/bluetooth/gps and all that stuff, look for a pocket computer that has it all. A friend of mine has one and it is even a navigator too. Works like a treat and will save you cash on buying each feature seperatly. His simply clips onto the dash and away he goes.

Good luck with the custom world my friend :)

  7. I got a WRX instead of supercharging my 1zz Corolla :P

    Much easier option...

But if you HAVE to do something to the car... i'd personally supercharge it for STREET use. No point refering to the WRC car... it's not a street driven car.. they aren't exactly built with comfort and practibility in mind.

I think installing a turbocharger would have too many tag along problems, with a semi-bolt on supercharger personally I thnk the risk of something going wrong is far less.

If you really are only swaying for the turbocharger just because of the 'pssssssssht' sound of the blow off valve... don't bother...this is for you insyead:

    bovclear.jpg

    How it works

    Making N/A blow off valve

    · You will need an old fire extinguisher or similar type of pressure vessel (FE)

    · A working ac compressor that is no hooked up to the ac system (ACC)

    · 2 LPG gas solenoids; 1 Normally Closed, 1 Normally Open(SOL1,NO) (SOL2,NC)

    · A pressure or boost cut out switch (PCO)

    · An activation switch (AS)

    · A BOV (BOV)

    Installation

    · See diagram

    · Green lines are boost or pressure lines

    · Blue lines are negative battery signal

    · Red lines are positive battery signal

    · Yellow line is a vacuum line

    How it works

    1. The ac compressor fills the FE to lets say 14psi

    2. When the preset pressure is reached the PCO is activated and turns the ac off

    3. With no power to SOL1 it is NO, so the BOV feed line has the same pressure as the FE, SOL2 also has no power and is NC

    4. When the activation switch is activated power is sent to the 2 solenoids, SOL1 will close and SOL2 will open

    5. When this happens the BOV feed line has neg pressure and the air inside the FE tries to equalise and the air is released out the BOV

    6. When the pressure in the FE drops the compressor cuts back in and the whole process starts again.

    7. If you want to control the that the 2 solenoids have power for then use a timer relay in line with the activation switch

  8. I go to WA suspensions for all my suspension work. Costs a fortune but the car ALWAYS drives so *** damn well after they have done their work on it. I prefer quality over cheapness.

Technik do great things in regards to custom work. They source TRD goods from America so it's not really a surprise that they would be charging an average price.

I bought my cold air intake for $450 as a rough guide. I used trdsales.com for my TRD purchases.

X-Speed have a mixed reputation. I would take my WRX to them to do some turbine work and engine mods... but to be honest I wouldn't even park my corolla in their drive way. They produce their best work on turbocharged or supercharged cars.

Cypher would be the place to take a sportivo or a normal corolla. They specialise in Toyotas and have put out a few absolutly stunning sportivos as of late. Seen 2 so far just driving around and im sure there is a 3rd one.

    So in general:

    1. WA suspensions are great but pricey... you pay for what you get.

    2. Technik can source TRD products for a fair price.

    3. X-Speed are good.. but I wouldn't think of taking my rolla there.

    4. Cypher are specialists in Toyotas... need I say more?

Go to cypher and talk to them when it comes to the CAI and unichip. You won't be dissapointed... they have already worked on sportivos in the past so they know what they are doing.

For suspension.. if you want the best setup and feel of your car go to WA suspension on the corner of canning highway and stirling highway in east freo. There is another well known suspension place whose name escapes me as of right now.

  9. I wouldn't have said any exhaust could match up to the remus within a reasonable price range. Being a 1zz not many people will be devolping exhausts for the car since they aren't a modifiers dream nor are they even thought about in a sporty way.

Remus seem to have hit the nail on the head with the exhaust as far as performance and sound goes.

All the other exhausts would be universal fit.. and no offence to any of you guys that have this.. but a big ***** canon sticking out from a corolla just looks wrong in my opinion, nothing looks worse.

  10. oh ok ic ic thanks guys...

the remus is off pegeot 307 hatch...

so i guess the pipping needed to be made custom..

Personally I would just get the right muffler for the right car... no point in trying to adapt it... you will lose power, might not get the right sound and will certainly not get the full benefit of having a remus muffler.

  11. It has also been scientifically proven that red is a faster colour, thus the TRD cold air intake is 50% better than the rest.

    ha..ha..ha...

how about i got a simota and paint it red? wouls it be as good as the TRD's?

i think the only thing i hate about the trd cai is u need u throw away the pod included in the system, right? and tht i don't like..throwing away my money for nothing.

anybody knows about blitz or where to get it? gain?

If you painted it candy apple red then im sure it could pull more than the TRD cold air intake then. :P

I'm still using the TRD pod.. works just fine, never had a problem with it at all.

Look on ebay for a blitz one? I'm pretty sure all the cold air intakes gain would be roughly the same, TRD may have more advantage due to specialising in toyotas but it would be unlikely it would be a huge amount of difference.

  12. The TRD cold air intake gives 90hp more. Resulting in my car having 320hp at the wheels and consistantly running 11 seconds down the track. :D

    *back to reality*

It made the car have a funny noise that I liked... and... increased power a little... and.... pulled a lot harder than stock. Personally I would suggest this as the #1 mod to do to a corolla as you really do get bang for your buck (even though the buck isn't quite as low as we all would like)

It has also been scientifically proven that red is a faster colour, thus the TRD cold air intake is 50% better than the rest.
