  1. I would like to know what everyone else's camry's rev at when sitting on 110km/h on the highway in top gear. Mine is a 96 vienta, 5 speed and it sits on a rather high 3,000 RPM at 110. i didn't think it would sit that high being 1, a V6 and 2. a manual.
  2. looks sweet. Look even better once you get the kit.
  3. they should ay! <_< im gonna put a turbo in my V6 camry next year. so wish me all the best ← Good luck, i'm doing mine soon. i'll give you a long distance hand if i can.
  4. i rekon they should bring out a turbo camry. V6. would be awesome.

    Turbo size help

If you don't get up to QLD, then you may see it one year at Auto Salon Final Battle (getting a little ahead of myself). My ultimate goal is to put camry's on the map, i have quite a few goals i'm aiming for with this car, including the fastest V6 Camry in the world, if i can't get the world title, i'll seetle for fastest in Australia. :P . But there will be plenty of pics and info on it all on the website and my forum.

    Turbo size help

When i get a quote done for the piping, i'll let you know. I don't think it'll be quite $1800, not for 2 pieces of pipe, the bends might cost a little, and a little bit for labour. And don't forget the price of the intercooler.

    Turbo size help

It depends on how much you can do yourself. I don't know if the set-up on a 1MZ is the same as a 3VZ, but i don't need to get custom manifolds made up for the turbo, which is a big money saver. As the going rate for custom manifolds run at around the $250 mark, per cylinder (at some places), the main expense will be getting the engine pipes made, and to buy a new turbo (but might go used, to keep costs down). The only other major cost would be a new ECU, but that may only end up being a piggy back ECU.

    Turbo size help

It'll be awhile before i start to do anything. I want to buy everything first, then take it off the road for a few weeks and then bring it out. The only thing that will possibly be done before everything else may just be the turbo conversion, just iron out any problems that may come up. It won't be running any big amounts of boost, maybe 5PSI, but will probably be intercooled. But be rest asured i'll let everyone know. Just keep an eye on my forum :) MAY EVEN GO FOR A TWIN SET-UP :P

    Turbo size help

I have heard of a few 1MZ being done. Once i start buying bits and pieces for the whole car, i'm going to make my own website, showing detailed pics, suppliers, workshops, full run down of all mods mage and how, and a how to and a don't do section for everyone to see. I don't care if people copy me, the key to the whole modifing of cars (to me) is to share your knowledge with anyone who wants to know.

    Turbo size help

I don't need to make custom headers :D I have spoken to a guy who has done the same conversion to a lexus in the US. The bodies are identical and the engine is a 3VZ-FE aswell. The major mechanical work consists of re-locating the battery to the boot and removing the cruise control.
  11. I'm going to be buying a turbo for my 3L, V6 soon. What size do you recommend to go for ? I was thinking along the lines of a T04 or something similar.
  12. It does make sense. That's what i've been saying all along, lol. I think it'll work better that way. So you don't have a Moderator from the Camry forum, trying to help out in the Supra forum, won't work to good. Basically keep it simple, moderators should stick to what they know best, there own model of car. If you can help out in other areas with advise, that's fine, but you only moderate your particular forum.
  13. Thanks Danthuyer, I'll be moving up there full time in the next few months, but i leave this Thursday morning, staying with friends and start work etc etc, i may just have to drop in.
  14. Buddha, does the toyota car club have a website at all ?

    HELP RIMS

Another idea is to go to your local tyre shop, they should have a book containing, stud measurements aswell as offsets etc. So call in there and ask them to look it up.
  16. That's some smart thinking Terry, why didn't i think of that.... Time to try and help tony out. Forget about putting a sub in the parcel shelf. Due to the fact you'll need to remove child safety restraints, making the car unroadworthy in most states. Get yourself a good quality sub box and use that. Easier to remove when you sell the car, and it's not like it'll take up heaps of boot space As far as cables go, good quality speaker cable is the only way to go. Don't just tape up the connections, invest $10-20 at Autobahn or something similar and solder all your connections together, including speakers. You could also go to a car audio store and find a adaptor plug, that connects your standard wiring harness to your H/U I wouldn't think you would need an amp to run 6x9's. A good mate of mine, owns the FUSION ute, and he told me never run 6x9's with subs, as they compete for bass, he recommends running 6-6.5" speakers. I have heard quite a few systems using 6x9's and subs, so my opinion is, do what ever set-up you like, it'll work if tuned right. Now, i don't know what a 2000 set-up is like for there H/U, but if it's like my '96 model it's as easy as falling off a log. You should be able to simply remove the cover from around the standard H/U and behind it you'll see a steel braket, which hold the H/U in place. Unscrew it, try and use the braket on your MP3 player and simply install it. Little word of advise, never turn on the power to the H/U, untill ALL wires are connected. Hope this helps.
  17. I will still run for the Camry forum, i'll be able to do some moderating from a internet cafe or borrow my mates PC for awhile.
  18. Mate, don't woory about being a newbie, we all were once, and besides, you don't learn anything if you don't ask. First of all, what car are we dealing with here ?
  19. I would've gave him a huge head butt, to the nose and broken it for being a smart ar$e.
  20. I don't think it would be a great idea to have moderators from each state. I think it would be better to have a moderator from each seprate forum, however i do agree with having state event co-ordinators. People that are moving interstate, should contact the co-ordinator, just to let them know they have moved, and to get a little knowledge of what happens within that state. As for myself, i will need to withdraw my nominatation for a Camry mod, due to me relocating to Qld, and i will be without a computer for awhile, sorry, totally slipped my mind.
  21. The more work you can do yourself the cheaper it'll be.
  22. I got my own set up kicking around somewhere. I'll get around to putting it on, one day.... If you have a Camry, they are around, you just have to find one to suit your car, if you can't find it, make it. Pretty easy to do.
  23. Is the Toyota Owners Club, an actual functioning car club ? If so how much is membership ? and if it's not, then it bloody should be. I think it would become a great club, with state branches, holding show 'n' shines, burnout comps, track days, dyno days, etc etc etc. All members get a discount at services and stores across their home state, club sticker, keyring and a club shirt, (shirts should cover sizes including 4XL, for us big boys :D ). It was just a thought i had, and for an extra fee, you get your bonus 'forum' pack. Using the existing silver membership scheme. Club fees, would be enough to cover the forum fees, as well as the running of the club. Just an idea.

    My Camry Build

I have revised my previous post, and have changed my plans for the Camry. I'm going to go nuts with it. The engine is to be fully rebuilt using forged pistons, to help get the compression down a touch and then with some custom manifolds, i'm going to run a T3-T4, hybrid turbo, running through a headlight to headlight intercooler. The rest is still going to be the same, but i'm thinking of a Carbon Fibre bonnet.
