  1. Does anyone know what causes the sound of water swishing around the dash on current model Camry is? It occurs when you take off sometimes especially on a hill.
  2. The pipes are stock apart from the muffler available at Toyota for about $390. I think I have lost a little bottom end power and hope that the an air cleaner gives this back. The advantage of the Unichip is that if you modify the exhaust you change the engine need for fuel over the power curve and therefore putting a big exhaust on can create more problems than its worth. Most changes to engine can be accommodated for by the Unichip. $1500 with a dyno and all read outs. If there is no modification to air intake or exhaust there maybe little gain for a powerchip. Unfortunately the XR6 turbo is super easy to modify but it is not a Camry....... :P Anyone heard of any flash tuners coming out for Camrys ? :D Yeap spordeno have to catch up and recruit some others in the west. :)
  3. Hmmm well Its got a bass note when you start it (remember its a 4cyl), it sounds like an Alfa from the outside when revved (so the guys at work told me). If sitting at hwy speed you would hardly notice it. But they all said it was fairly quiet untill about 3500 rpm. :D When revved it has the Alfa sound like in that new add. :) I didn't want too much noise either, its def a sporty car sound, but yeah you can talk with no problem. Its just before the Camry was super quiet I never heard the engine , now I can tell what it is doing. Then again I also got a window seal fixed under warranty After I get it unichiped I am hoping to make the sound a bit better as at the moment there is a slight flat spot or two. :D
  4. Funny thing I just put a Sportivo one on at my first service. Mine is a 4 cyl but sounds a lot better - like there is an engine now Next week 18" wheels, King springs and K & N air filter 1 month and a unichip and dyno tune
  5. Does anyone know the diff between the sportivo springs and the king springs. I sone better than the other?
  6. no V6 in the new Camry :( sweet :D the 3.5 S/C V6 sounds good B) i know what i want for my next car ← See you in the Avalon forum :P
  7. maybe we just have to spread the good news about Toyota Owner club to Camry people :P 2 weeks away and 18" wheels........
  8. Hi Did you notice any performance increase on the 2.4L ? Any other mods? ;)
  9. What type of catalyst did you get for your car the drop in the tank ones or inline ones? (Drop in is nice and easy no fitting!) ;)
  10. The amp will lift the rears but the important sound staging comes from the front speakers. The thing to do is have a 4 channel amp and drive the front and the sub from that amp and run the rears off the head unit as 'fill' ;)
  11. I put an Alpine unit in mine that connects to the i-pod so 40 gig of music , no CD's floating around the car and the sound is amazing. :P Alpine have been doing MP-3 the longest. ;) $599 for the unit including i-pod adapter. I put in alpine 6x9 at the back and MB quart splits at the front. In the next few weeks I am going to add a JL 50w (12 volt) x4 channel amp ($400ish) and JL sub tube ($280) due to space and lack of current bass.
  12. Hi spordeano, One of the tyer places said I could not go over 7 1/2 rims width wise or they would stick out of the rims and casue grief from the Law. Do yours fit OK ? if so I will have to go for those ones as BJ seem to be more helpful than other places. :o :D
  13. If I knew about it I would go - Have to get a Perth one going ! :P What does it involve - BBQ , drive somewhere, prawns, showing off clean Cardi and latest Fleetwwod mac CD's? B)
  14. I might have to see you in the WA store fitting springs once the visitors from over east go back! Anyone with an exhuast tell us how they go / sound. : ;) did you get 18" x 8" or 7 1/2 rims on the From Bob Jane? How is that Fuel thing going? B)
  15. Ah I think the King spring place in Perth quoted me about $460 drive in drive out without alignment , but if I am getting 18" wheels the next day....... :P one place told me that I already had sports springs and had it lowered. The Current model Sportivo is just upgraded shocks as far as I can gather from the toyota site and speaking to them.
  16. In my investigations yesterday I found out that the I can get a Unichip all fitted in Perth for $1500. - will reduce fuel consumption unless hoofed. But must get tuned after any other modifications ie exhaust and air cleaner. A full exhaust system for $950- including high flow cat and muffler - 2.5 inch system. But he said you must get a Unichip afterwards or it will run lean. Springs at City Toyota Perth i got quoted Defiantly but I will go with the King springs as they are Good and cheaper. Just got to find a good mechanic to fit them cheaply! Sports muffler from Toyota I got quoted at $330 and $393 once again diff dealer diff pricing. Fitting approx $90 Just check your insurance covers you.
  17. I saw that Pic on the Bob Jane site (just moved to the west myself) and it has inpired me to do that with mine. I got a quote on King Springs $220. Differnt toyota dealers have quoted me differnt amounts for the Sportivo springs so be careful. Fitting has varied from $440- $120 + wheel alignment. There is a good chance that King Sprngs make the spring for Toyota! How did you find the new wheel/tyre combo ? Also I am looking at the K&N airfilter about $100 and the sportivo muffler ($330, some dealers $393)
  18. Hi I was wondering if anyone knew any good modificcations for the 2.4 L engine , I cant find any Chips on the web. Dont want to spend too much or kill the fuel bill. :P Any suspension mods would be apriciated too. :) How about 17 or 18" wheels anyone chenged them and felt the difference?
