  1. Well folks. The Aurion is back from the repairers and it looks fabulous!

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make the show and shine on Saturday due to working that day. I finish at 2pm, but i'll try get there. :) Definately going to be there Sunday though!

Still wondering if anyone has a spare CB radio they wish to loan my passenger and I during that day too!

yeahhhhh! 18hr drive here we come!

You two will really enjoy the drive down. I've driven from Brisbane to Melbourne on my own, it took me two full days though. I also went down the guts of the country rather than along the coast. Can't wait to see you guys. :)

  3. Damn, what a shame about the Aurion - no more lending it to your parents!!! From the display piccy is it gold in colour?? If so and if it makes it I'd love to do a quick photo shoot together; Gold Cam & a Gold Aurion :D

I've got no passengers either if anyone still needs. Can't wait until Saturday!

If it's ready by Saturday and I make the meet (wont be till after 2pm for me as im working then anyway :( ) ill definately do some photos with the cars together :)

  4. Well, if it IS ready by the cruise (they say Saturday now hmmm)... I'll do the cruise, but the meet... I might have to just park my loaner ford festiva up the street and walk in to meet you all.

Was supposed to have a friend ride with me on the Sunday, hopefully it IS ready and i'll just do that part.

  5. I AM SO GUTTED RIGHT NOW.....

I just got a call from the smash repairers today saying the car won't be ready by this weekend. :(

(For those who don't know, the moral of the story is... "NEVER....EVER LET YOUR PARENTS DRIVE YOUR AURION!") :(:(:(:(:(

Smashed the front passenger side of the bumper bar and it all just snapped, so yeah... New bumper and foglight plz. :(

  6. I had my dash rattle fixed on my last service, however due to that being fixed it developed into a centre console creaking sound as i braked, turned corners and god knows what haha...

Turns out that's a common fault too, the plastic mounts that mount the centre console to the chassis either crack or snap, causing movement. Mine have all completely snapped and yeah you can just move it around now. They have got replacement parts for me and I'm going to take it in probably this week sometime.

  7. Hey guys, I was looking at the thread and was humming and ahhing about it, decided yeah why not. Myself and a mate of mine are willing to give it whirl... (myself in a Aurion ZR6 and him in a Nissan Pulsar N15 (hey, you wanted other cars there!))

    So yeah

    Tofuboi

    Willay

Chuck them both down. :) Hope to have fun as it will be my first dyno day and first real event ive gone to haha...

P.S The ZR6 is stock besides a K&N panel filter and thats it! id like to see what it would do stock.

  8. I'm looking at a nice set of Black 19" Rims for my Aurion ZR6, it's gold too sir! :D

Hopefully I'll find some that are good soon, the eyelids look really good too!

    Well done man.

  9. What fuel you use: Shell V-Power 98 Octane

How many Km's you get to a tank: 500-600KM

What your Avg 100km/L is: Lowest - 8.6L/100km Highest - 10.8L/100km (It totally depends on my driving style, but the 8.6L was acheived when I just drove civilised with a boot here and there. But this was after I installed a K&N Panel Filter. I've done the same route numerous times and 8.6L was the best result. 8.9L is about normal with the stock 'paper filter'.

What sort of driving is this based on: To and from work, 100km or so per day.

  10. One rattle I forgot to mention is the front passenger seatbelt. Nothing that one can easily fix, just a design flaw. If you are driving without a passenger in the front, the seatbelt buckle keeps knocking against the plastic trim. Kind of annoys me sometimes.

Yeah this is something I noticed too...

It was rather funny, I used to only have the top of the dash rattle, like the common fault. Toyota DID fix that with that modified part. But now as a consequence of pulling the dash apart, the centre console now creaks n stuff. You just can't win haha. I'm going back probably next week to sort it out.

  11. Maybe I bought a dud! mine holds gears in every gear I could rev limit in every single gear until the engine exploded if i wanted too. Auto mode has a bit of a lag from when you hit the gas. Sequential does 0 -100 in at least 6.9!

thats funny Marty mines exactly the same maybe ive got a dud to,it will hold any gear for as long as i like.

I think what people mean by 'not holding gears' is basically this...

If you've selected 4th gear on the 'sequential shift' mode. It will sit in 4th, but when you boot it from say.....80km/h, it will fly back to 2nd and let you go, reving all the way out, changing to 3rd, doing the same, then 4th.. but holding in 4th until redline. Instead of just accelerating from 4th gear doing 80. :P

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  12. Here's mine, "Mufflers swapped for resonators". Its only fairly quiet though.

Tried it with the resonator off, too much done came out around the 2-2.5k rev mark and underload.

Yeah this is where I was having issues when I was doing my experimental exhaust stuff (on hold btw due to unforseen issues with me in general heh).

We just tested keeping the stock middle resonator and just change the two back mufflers and boy was it droned out at about 2,000rpm... its something you really need to design and work around to get right.

  13. If we are able to make it work properly, im sure they'll start doing kits once its all done up nice. :)

Not sure how much tho lol.

In terms of the error codes I actually can't remember what they were now... They did come up on the little display on the ZR6 and engine light was stuck on. I assume it was throwing some sort of engine management code.

  14. Well so far not so good unfortunately...

After a complately new system was fabricated (manifolds included, with sensor stuff so it wouldnt cause issues)... Well it did, kicking up the engine managment light and restricting engine revs. While it sounded GREAT on idle, it would keep kicking up diagnostic errors, even after spending over half the day trying to adjust it.

So we reverted back to the stock setup and started working in stages, just working from the back to the front...

After fabricating new back sections (after the stock pipe splits into 2) it sounds really meaty and grumbly, although it began to drone even at that moment. 2,000-2,300rpm would just send a massive vibration through the car, drone like hell and even induce the dash rattle. Which i NEVER had until then :S

So day 1 isnt looking so hot at the moment, but theres always day 2 :) keep ya posted, and i forgot my camera so ill get some pics hopefully.

  15. Yeah it's going to be an interesting experiment that's for sure. I was pondering doing the testing by feel but I am leaning more toward a dyno test at the moment.

We had the car up on the hoist and basically he pointed out the two most restrictive areas on that exhaust are the huge resonator behind the final cat and the flat part you described.

We were going to try design some custom headers but we're unsure as there aint much space... The sensors become a worry too. We will definately just setup a mostly straight through system with a hi-flow at the final cat. But what good is a hi-flow if the other two cats on the headers are restrictive...

Either way it's going to be fun.
