  1. Press Release

    09 March 2010

RUKUS BY NAME, RUCKUS BY NATURE

Toyota Australia today announced it will launch an all-new model for Australia, to be known as "Rukus", before the middle of the year.

New Toyota Rukus is an urban utility vehicle with head-turning styling that projects an aggressive appearance.

Toyota Australia's marketing manager Scott Thompson said Rukus is designed to bring young, urban trend-setters to the Toyota family - especially those who have never previously considered a Toyota.

"It will be a case of 'Rukus' by name and ruckus by nature," Mr Thompson said.

"This is a car that's designed to be different, with a boxy shape that has become iconic," he said.

"When it's launched late in the first half of this year, it will certainly stir up the small-car market - creating a 'ruckus', if you will."

Mr Thompson said Toyota Rukus will be offered to urban dwellers as a blank slate.

"It will be loaded with great standard features, but we expect many owners to express their individuality by making their car stand out from the pack.

"That might involve wild paint jobs, funky wheels or other ideas, limited only by the imagination of owners - and what's legal.

"Potential customers have told us they want this style of car. We've listened and we're responding.

"Rukus is designed to be different: it's not for everyone. It's a bit like Vegemite: it's an acquired taste," Mr Thompson said.

  2. Whoever did this photoshop.. Can you please please please do it on the old sportivo but without the spoiler and add a ducktail if possible?

VF-X...you are asking for too much...haha

This is as good as it gets for me...it's not that great...couldn't source a rear picture of a black sportivo anywhere.

  3. Everything Daryl said is correct...(the Vortex are 17 by 7)

and min width of the wheel for 235/45R17 is 7.5...

but that's what Toyota gave me when i got the car...so didn't complain...and just went with it...

    and all was well...

RE001's are a good set but don't last very long (on an Aurion anyway, should last a lot longer on the Gen5 Camry)

  4. I thought i had posted a reply to this thread...and it's like where did it go...

and yeah the topic got re-posted in the correct section...."Camry Forum"...

anyway i'll just copy past what i wrote in it....

    "yes it is 225/45R17...

the RE001's in that size are made in Australia.

and they are right now priced @ $249 @ JaxQuickFit"

And i did have those same wheels for the V6 Camry(Gen 5.5)....but i ran 235/45R17 on Bridgestones RE030 and they lasted like 55000kms...

  5. Since a lot of people on this forum use Meguiar's, let's start listing the lowest prices on each Meguiar's products...(store and state)

I think i'll start...and maybe it'll be a good idea to just copy and append the list...

(and just list the normal prices)....and maybe separate things that are on special at a certain date...separately.

    Here it goes...

Hot Shine Tyre Spray (Aerosol) $15.92 [bigW-NSW] (I think this is like $24 at Super Cheap)

    Ultimate Quick Wax $26.98 [sCA-NSW]

    Ultimate Quick Detailer $28.87 [sCA-NSW]

    Wet Look $20.84 [sCA-NSW]

Deep Crystal System Polish $20.97 [sCA-NSW]

that is all i can remember for now.

(Abbreviations: A1-AutoOne/SCA-SuperCheapAuto/Rep-Repco....the rest i think you can make up)

  6. I've had a set of Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3: 225/45R17 on a ZRE Hatch.

They have lasted 61200kms and there is still tread on it.

They are a good set of tyres, grip levels are good, but a bit high on noise level.

Don't think i'd want the same set again.

Does anyone have any recommendations in the same size?

    Thanks

  7. Pretty good...!

    But there's still more!

Oh...and that supposed power line in the second picture....i think i mistakenly put that black line in the second picture.

All the spots above are right....

Mikka: end of the railing is a good spot.

lilbird: Good spot on the tree branch(top left corner)

1stKill: got quite a lot of them...especially that sign on top of the door...(Give me a guess on what it says!)

"red letter on board blank"...what are you referring to?

those three spots are the ones i thought people would miss...

    but yeah...there's more.

  8. HOLDEN JOINS TOYOTA FOR BATHURST

Touring car stalwart Bob Holden will contest his 35th race at Mt Panorama with the 77-year-old confirmed to drive a Toyota Yaris in this year's Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race on February 14.

Holden, who won the 1966 edition of what is now the Bathurst 1000, will pilot the 1.5-litre engine Yaris YRX in the small production class with co-drivers Justin Matthews and Craig Bradshaw.

Holden has been racing for more than 60 years and is looking forward to returning to Bathurst in a car he has helped prepare and set-up.

"Our preparations are going along really well and we have already spent two days testing the car at Oran Park," Holden said.

"I was pleasantly surprised how strong the Yaris performed, but I have always enjoyed racing small cars."

The Yaris drive is a continuation of Holden's long history racing Toyotas.

The combination claimed class victory at Bathurst in 1987 in an AE86 Sprinter and Holden still campaigns a Toyota Corolla in historic meetings.

"I still take great enjoyment from driving and the people involved in the sport, which is why I accepted the offer to drive the Yaris," Holden said.

Team manager Paul Nelson who ran Holden in his Super Touring car team in the mid-1990s was pleased the veteran racer had agreed to lend his vast experience to his team.

"I wouldn't go to Bathurst without him," Nelson said. "Bob's skill level is superb, he's very gentle on equipment, understands the car and his lap times are still there."

The Yaris will have a unique look for the 12 Hour. It will be dressed to look like a security patrol car from title sponsor BezCorp - a security monitoring company that runs a fleet of Yaris.

Holden's Bathurst Yaris is supported by Terry Shields Toyota in Parramatta.

Three other Toyotas are entered in the Bathurst 12 Hour, where the Yaris will be joined by production car regular Lauren Gray in a Corolla Sportivo as well as two privately entered Celicas.
