  1. If its just a bit damp try turning the lights on for a while and maybe the heat generated will get rid of it.

To save time and hassle, if you attempt this method, try to find a way to have the bulb sit in there whilst being on... WHILE... somehow allowing airflow into there.

Otherwise you get a greenhouse effect in there and the water goes nowhere.

Agreed or are we being predantic.

  2. i change my fog light few days ago, i didn't notice water moisture in it. today i just notice my inside fog light had water moisture inside of it. it there a way i can get rid of water moisture gone ? please help me to get rid of it.

  3. I take it this is your first car then, or you never payed attention to the car when your parents drove you around as a kid? :P

Good luck on the low washer fluid warning light... even the Aurion doesn't have one.

No 'DJKOR' its my sixteenth car and the last time I was in my parents car was prior to the last world war. one of the reasons that prompted this entry is to help what seems to be quite a few who don't seem to know why they cant fit 70 ltrs into the tank when it hits the empty mark and in fact was first placed as a reply to one such query. One of my previous cars which was a1983 Telstar Ghia which I owned in1983 had warning lights bells and whistles! for just about everything. Maybe the top of the range Aurion has?

  4. Just the other day my fuel gauge hit the empty mark. Well to my pleasant supprise a little round orange light which I didn't know was there came on. Occasionally going off and then on again consistent with the sloshing around of the remaining petrol in the tank which if consistent with other makes should give me a range of say 50 to 100KS before completely running out and coming to a stop. My car is a 1999 Vienta. I wander what other little treasures there are? For instance, I believe there is one for low windscreen washer water and hopefully some others

  6. Reading through the forums I noticed a few concerns about removing birds droppings which in some instances can start etching into your paintwork very quickly. I had that experience a while back on a previous car. wouldn't have been on it for more than a few hours, I washed it off and tried to polish it off but no luck. I rang my panel beater and his response was "your too late" only way to get it off is poor boiling water on it, touch it with anything other than water first and its history. Have done that since and it has worked for me every time. Wash with cold water if it leaves a mark trickle some boiling water on it but be careful don't scald yourselfe, the water doesn't have to be actually boiling but close to and especially on cold days be careful not to get very hot water on glass areas as they could be damaged.

  8. Does anyone know how to fit a trip computer into a 1999 camry - Vienta. Can a trip computer from any other be fitted as my model does not have one. connection details would contain connection to various instruments one to computer and connections to ground and power. .

  9. a google search tonight gives me the impression they are the same car anyone who knows where one of thes is being wrecked or has the parts an email or any answers via the forum would be greatly appreciated cheers

The real sting in the tail is insurance says it is mechanicle failure not fire so check your policies

Happened to me years ago not a lighter rather ball joint gave way and caused heaps of damage. They claimed mechanical and I agreed that the ball joint certainly was but that the resulting damage to the other parts wasn't. After threats of legal action by me they paid. But not for the mechanical part that failed.!!!?

  10. Sorry if this has been done before but i thought instead of making a new thread for me to ask a simple question, id just make a general camry question thread where all small questions can be easily asked in the one place.

anyway my question is which has played on my mind all day during work is, if the camry model fuel tank capacity is 70 litres, why is it that when i filled it up today with 55 litres of fuel today the line went past the "F"? The line was at the 2nd little mark before the "E" before i filled it up?

As the second little mark would indicate a quarter of a tank eg 17.5 liters and allowing for it not being exactly on the mark we'll presume that we factor in an error of 2.5 liters this then would represent a figure of 15 liters in your tank plus the 55liters liters you put in equals 70 liters exactly. By the way these gauges aren't always precise.

  11. I religiously use from BP ultimate or Mobil syn8000. Caltex Vortex gold makes my car hesitate quite badly with

My car is a 1999 V6 Vienta and I always use V/Power, mainly cause my wife shops at Coles and I enjoy the 4c discount. It would appear that its six of one and half a dozen of the other when it comes to brand names. However, I have been advised that V/Power and I believe other high octane brands use beneficial additives in their top product, plus there is, according to tests that I have read (providing I don't go swapping and changing every time I fill up the ECU will adjust to the new conditions) resulting in an increase of 4kilowats of power and I think it was 5nts of torque. Without the proper equipment to do a meaningful check those figures must represent an improvement in both performance and economy. As they say use the best and forget the rest!!!! If it makes you happy, use it .

  12. would having the overdrive button on my 1989 camry result in better or worse fuel economy. thanks

This has been answered pretty well in regards to load etc but also occasionally on potholed unmade roads or on some inclines where o/drive keeps popping on and off (or for that matter any other gear) it would be appropriate to change down to a lower gear to overcome that situation. The third gear in the auto is a direct drive and therefore I suggest should not cause any problems, check this out with a Toyota dealer who should be able to verify this if you wish to drive without o/drive for what ever reason. As to economy? Only one way to be sure with your driving style and that's do a check both ways. Not sure about your car but a falcon I used to own was six of one half a dozen of the other in and around town 60KPH areas. The Falcon without o/drive on would still lock up but I'm not sure about your car. HAPPY DAYS.

  13. Hi,

just wondering which tyre brand and models best suit the 1989 model of the toyota camry.

and what are the rates (4 tyres) bought installed and uninstalled(tyres seperately) and how much does wheel alignment cost and is it necessary.

    i reside in NSW.

    thanks

HI just fitted 2 Dunlop sport 300E 205 65 15 tyres on the front of my 1998 Vienta. Wanted quiet tyres which I researched heavily, Mitchelin apparently too soft for front wheel drive?, Pirellie 6000 should be OK? Goodyear excellence? etc:etc: So far very happy, heeps quieter and at current sale price of $106 each with free rotation and balancing for the life of the Tyre from KMart sorry i didn't need 4. New Dunlop FastResponse, admittedly dearer should be great but couldn't get feedback as Tyre is too new.

  14. 93 4cyl auto wont run normally untill it warms up any info will be helpful

Hi not sure about 93 model but if you mean auto won't go into top gear etc until its warm then this is normal if the same as later models. Hope this helps.

  15. surely if the ecu can be set, read, "has to be set"when it is built in the first instance, then it must be able to be altered without any added chips add ons etc. CAPA do have a unit that does just that but each unit services only one car and at around $700+ isn't available to many. So, where are those computer wizards,! There must be a way to build a unit that can be used universally. Where a mechanic can plug his unit in make the necessary adjustments, unplug it, make his comparative nominal charges and away you go. Who can build one? Chip makers piggyback makers etc will hate you.

  16. hi Guys,

looking at the UR web site they sell Torsion bar which I alway call this swaybar and they also sell a rear sway bar, which is the correct term???.......i have a whiteline rear swaybar atm and would it help to also add a SWAY BAR (19MM) Code:UR-AR19-076???

    thanks.

ZZE - REAR TORSION BAR (2 POINT) Code:UR-RT2-578

    ZZE - REAR SWAY BAR (19MM) Code:UR-AR19-076

    28018o1.jpg

Hi maybe I' wrong but seems to me all that bar does, is change your car from independent rear suspension to non independent rear suspension, as the bar does exactly what a differential does in a non independent rear wheel drive car, suspension wise..

  17. I am in Melbourne in the eastern suburbs.

I have a 1999 Camry Touring. It is green, manual and completely stock. I bought it in Nov 2006 with 110,000kms on the clock. Yesterday, the car ticked over to 188,300kms. Hopefully it has a bit of life left in it! I do look after it given it covers about 500km a w

Just a word of caution. If you haven't replaced the timing belt' do it soon. As it should have been done at 150,000Ks and could cause all hell if it gives way.

  18. damn, am i the only one? :(

I,ll help you get started, come on chaps be in it. MY Car 1999 Fully optioned Vienta Grande, covered 175000Ks, economy on last trip 9.4 ltrs per 100Ks with aircon on all the way. Should drop to mid 8s without aircon.

Best of the camry bodied Vientas ever built! Well, I believe so anyway. Toying with the idea of fitting a lager or high flow catalytic converter to reduce back pressure, to improve economy. Fitted a few extra seals to doors and under bonnet to help make it whisper quiet even under hard acceleration and at highway speeds on rough surfaces. Great Cars Camry's!

  19. I would have to disagree.

Dad owns a Camry Conquest, Brother owned a Camry Touring and Cousin owns a Vienta Grande. I can say with complete confidence the MCV36R (Camry Sportivo) is the best camry ever made :toast:

    But is not a Vienta!

  20. IF you legitimatley compare:

    1: Quality

    2: Reliability

    3: Fit and Finish

    4: Detail

    5: Materials used

The Gen 3 (VCV10, SXV10, MCV10) is actually the best. In the US, I can actually pinpoint the EXACT year where Toyota hit the top, 1994. It started downhill after that.

I;m not arguing performance, looks, etc. That is different.

Ho Hum What you say is possibly true of USA but doesn't carry in Aus. For one thing the new all Alloy engine puts it the gen 4, streets ahead and well lets face it style of the newer caradded space etc etc?!!

  21. HI I've been chasing around checking for tyres 205 65 15, stock standard, most common size currently in use. Specific requirements are a quiet ride, and grip in the wet at a reasonable price. After careful consideration with heeps of research, I,ve decided to go for Mitchelin Primacy LC. Sumitomo the worlds largest Tyre manufacturer makers of Dunlop tyres and others was an alternative with their Sumitomo HTR Z111 but was led to believe that the Mitchelin were quieter. I'll let you know in due course how they go.ie: good or bad choice.

  22. A recent report that I read, stated the best Camry ever built was the 1998- 2001 Camry. Well as the Camry is an on going model, there is reason to contest that line, drawing on the possibility that models after the date of that report could not have been considered. However as the top of the range Vienta was the last of the Camry bodied Vienta's, this must leave that Vienta as the best of all time! YES YES YES. That's my car and its MAGIC, Silent, Smooth and Stately. WHAT SAY YOU?

  23. OH!!!! Ok, the ECU. Yeah, the Engine Computer.

    Whats your current gas mileage?

Hi ASG14 thanks for your response. On a trip of approx 750 kilometers I averaged 9.4 ltrs per 100 Kms with air con on all the way. Which translates to 30 MPG (imperial gallons) Average speed approx 100KPH (62.5MPH)

  24. Whats a PCM? Probably just called something different in the States here.

Hi The PCM is the Powertrain Control Module, as stated in the Haynes Repair Manual for Toyota Camry 1997 thru 2001 etc an American Publication which has unfortunately superseded our local publications. Its the computer that regulates engine management, EG ignition timing, fuel rate etc etc. Otherwise referred to as EEC, ECU etc with other makes, and referred to as (ECM) Electronic Control Module on earlier model Camry's.
