  1. the ticking is usually the fsm(i think it is called that) it switches quickly and controls intake of hot and cold air at idle with the air box set up.

since install of the CAI (the bracket doesn't fit) mine is cable tied so it floats but does move so much and now my ticking is much less/

hope thats of help man but if at all worried take it in and ask your workshop.

the 2ZZ has some crazy noises that are all normal. like the jet air craft one it makes after 6000 revs.

  2. no.

i guess it depends on if they want to be dickheads or not. technically, they by law have to comply with adr (number whatever - which is an external noise rule) and to do so the car has to leave the shop with the necessary modifications/recall work as per specification.

since the air box is no longer on the car. then they do not have to inter change the part on the car just on the air box. If they do crank the arguement (like my guys nearly did). then ask them to pay the labour cost to put it back on. They will soon change there tune

  3. hey guys had the ECU done this morngin yeah must agree with peekay cept for the uni chip as i have not had one but the car is just so much more drivable. no torque hole and smooth into lift like a vtec engine,

with my mods now i am keeping up with the S2000 it is a good feeling.

the gear cables still haven't come into penrith toyota so i still have to wait.

also I/they didn't remove the CAI they just put the new cap in the boot no questions asked.

  4. yeah i am still to recieve my latter and dan its not that we didn't have faith in you saying that they are removing the CAI its just that they shouldn't have to. I am sure the ADR ruling body would take the fact that we have modified the car into consideration, - if they do should i/we fire up due to the hassles/out of pocket for the re fit.

  5. hey guys just found out mitchells pass was open again today so i took the liberty of taking the panda for a walk for a through runs up and down the winmalee pass and then to mitchell's (which is as awsome and testing as i remember).

the engine response between coners in the short distances that the throttle can be open for is 300% improved. haven't really noticed any major life changing difference cept for the sound until today. really pushing the car and its beautiful (and life saving) ABS made me notice the throttle/engine respone with the CAI is much better.

my vote is 4.5 spuds from 5.

    happy with the purchase.

  6. in respect to TRD parts it is toyota so it is covered by warranty - not effecting you new car warranty. the parts are covered for 1 year and if installed before delievery for the life of the cars warranty. The TRD parts most made for our cars are designed and developed in USA, both myself and mikesportivo03 have discussed this with toyota australia at length, i discussed it when the rep from customer information who rang me to confirm i was happy with my warranty work as i have complained a few times, re: gear select and ecu etc.

there is no need to take them off. I think if they take the CAI off they will be re installing it for free the minute their warranty service is over.

no offence to any one intended. I hope toyota are smart about this work.

  7. why are people removing the cai for the recall work??, if it is TRD it is covered under warranty and a toyota partif it is another brand it should not matter as you own the car. I don't think taking it off will do any difference and they will tune the new chip exactly the same. just get the new air box cap thrown in the boot, i think peekay had the right idea and is just going to swap them old for new and get them to put it on the back seat.

at the end of the day i don't think toyota are going to think badly if you have the CAI or other mods.

my opinion only. if any one has heard of toyota not going to do the recall work with engines that have up grades please tell me.

  8. you have to beat me first before the 5 car lengths :lol: .

nah my modding is finished cept maybe a new clutch.

my awsome compact shift light is on its way.

    and then that is all.

next time we race i hope for less traffic, then i will show you what my car can really do.

    esp on the touge

    ;)

  9. the main thing i have done is practice driving and shifting,

cold air installed but i don't think that is giving me any advantage.

was only getting about a nose in front and obvious doing 60 in third grims car is going to outrun mine at that speed i am a second gear fellow.

nice racing though. and it is nice and even now. next will be through the pass at winmalee touge style

  10. the ticking sound is one of the vavles ususlly connected to the air box it flicks between hot air and cold air to keep the engine warm. i can't remember exactly but it is like an old thermo stat to get you engine warm.

if it is abnormally long periods of time or continually i would take the car to toyota.
