  1. I still use the good old fashion LARGE Oates one (the one that comes in the orange container). Works well especially if you are of a bigger stature compared to me. :P You can dry the whole side of the car with just 1 twist as I witness by our resident detailer Silvabullet!

  2. Guys stop just looking at the "wattage". The Type S speakers from Alpine are very efficient speakers where they will sound pretty nice and loud with just head unit power. Amps can make it sound even nicer and louder but if you are going to get an amp, I'd suggest going with better speakers in the first place.

With the TypeR you WILL need an amp as they are more power hungry but they will sound better than the S's even if both are amp.

Just remember to spend the most on the front speakers as they are the most important part of the equation.

  3. You can get the philips DRL from any philips retailer. Even autobarn has a philips book advertising their DRL. But personally speaking, if it didn't come with the car, it shouldn't be put on as all. The ebay ones arent even bright enough to really use them as DRLs.

  4. I changed the ecu to a manual one so that you don't get shift solenoid faults which will bring a check engine light and go into limp mode. However the loom must be slightly different too so that's why I still have that code.

Secondly although manual is fun and slightly faster. If you aren't going to mod it then i'd just stay auto unless your box is about to break. As I said I would rather spend that 5 k on something else eg suspension, wheels, tyres, or spend 5k tosards making boost.

Also selling your car + 5k will give you a manual v6 which would be heaps better and worlds apart performance wise.

  5. Ok spoke to Adrian. Gave him the paint code to try and test out on a random panel.

He said about 6k for a colour change and that includes behind doors, under the bonnet edges. But not the engine bay itself. And at least a quarter of that price will be taken off due to insurance paying for the repainting of the whole left side. But he will give me the proper quote for the insurance and then how much to add on for if I went with Satin black, and if I just did the silver.

Btw I've been told by people to get Frozen grey because if I go Frozen Black, it'll end up having lots of white stuff on it after the first thursday meet it goes to from a certain someone. :P

  6. Nope it is not worth it. It is always cheaper to sell your car and buy the manual version. This is coming from someone who has done it. It cost about 5k. The only time you would think about doing this is if your gearbox is about to die (mine was) and if there is significant amount of work done to it (mine has). So selling your car + 5k will give you a better car than swapping yours to manual. There are also less issues in the future too, my ecu will give me a "where is the auto gearbox" code but luckily this doesnt trigger the check engine light or the limp mode.

Also after seeing what the "mechanics" at the wreckers do and how they treat cars, I would never let them put a finger on my car.

  7. I think he said $6k if we wanted glass out like the other car in there, and $5k without taking the glass out. Hmm but yeah I'll ask him all about it next week and options.

The bad part is that the lsd may have to wait a little bit longer. However if I were to just "fix" the damage, the car will probably never change colour.

Also lawrence, is this a secret plan for me to get all the cool stuff done so you can buy it perfect in the future :P hahaha jk :P

ps. Car most probably will not be fixed by the meet, not going to risk it not being ready for the meet and also the paint when it isnt fully cured when flying up and down mountains :P
