  2. Hi guys,

Got my 2011 ZRE152 last month (after my old 2003 Rav4 and I were in a bit of a fender bender), and started to do some slight mods here and there.. The mods started coming in quick; never knew modding would become such an addiction for me :S

Anyways, thought I'd update this first post. Finally decided to name my ride.. 'Leila' , a variation of the name 'Layla' which is of an Arabic origin that means "Dark Beauty".. thought it was a pretty appropriate name for my black ZRE :)

    Current Mod List:

    • Aftermarket Slim Tinted Weathershields
    • Window tints: 35% driver side & front passenger side and 30% rear passengers & rear windshield
    • HID headlights: 6000k low beams, 8000k high beams
    • LED parker lights and rear license plate lights
    • 17" Advanti Talon (Gunmetal Grey) Wheels
    • Bridgestone Potenza Adrenaline RE001's (245/45/17)
    • Lowered on Pedders Sports Ryder eXtreme XA Coil Overs
    • Exhaust system modified with Xforce S10 Twinloop Rear Muffler and Catco Metal Hi-flow Cat
    • Injen SP2079BLK Cold Air Intake
    • Genuine front Netz badge
    • Debadged Rear (TOYOTA, COROLLA and ASCENT badges)
    • Matte Gloss black rear Toyota trunk emblem
    • VG Sharkfin Antenna mod
    • Larger rear roof spoiler - similar to Levin rear spoiler (on the way)
    • Couple of decals

    Future Mods:

    • new wheels (absolutely hate stock steelies)
    • lowering (possibly King Spring Lows - not sure if I will be scraping/rubbing on SuperLows)
    • possibly coilovers later on down the track
    • CAI (Injen?)
    • Sports exhaust Will maybe look into replacing the stock cat+resonator with a highflow cat and sausage resonator later on
    • Rear Roof Spoiler
    • Bodykit (possibly comprising of TRD Front Lip and Modellista Rear Spats and Toyota Motorsport Sideskirts)
    • Foglights (when aftermarket ones are available - not paying $800 excl installation, for genuine Toyota ones)
    • New headunit (Eclipse?) + sound system setup
    • OEM Toyota Auris LED Footwells
    • LED DRL's cbf
    • Front Netz Emblem (on the way now from JP)
    • De-badge the rear (Toyota logo, Corolla logo, Ascent logo) and paint rear Toyota Emblem flat/matte black (will be doing this the coming weekend)

Sweet machine (wish I had your budget)

  3. Hi guys,

Just wanted to show a couple pics of my Tarago.

Been after one of these for a number of years but couldn't find a decent one here in Adelaide so I flew to Sydney and drove her back.

Up to this time I had only driven a 4cylinder rental and couldn't believe just how hard these V6's go for such a large car!

Future mods I hope to have will be to get her lowered, new exhaust and possibly a TRD Super Charger!

    Cheers,

    Ralf...

  4. Sweet pictures guys..

I have a 2008 GLX that I would like to 'pimp' out a bit (would love to get it lowered and some exhaust mods)

My ultimate aim is to get a super-charger for the V6!

Would of have been great to have seen an all-wheel-drive TRD version!

  5. Greetings,

I have been trying to remove th rear bumper as I have some LED lights for the old reflectors.

I spent most of Saturday trying to get it off and for the life of me couldnt figure it out!

Thought I would stop before I broke something.

Can anyone offer some advise please ?

    Cheers,

    Ralf..

  6. 1.) 1971 HQ GTS 2-door 253 V8 auto (first car which I fully restored with my dad at 17 yrs of age)

2.) 1972 LJ GTR-XU1 'Bathurst' Torana (Red) but original colour was 'strike me pink' (fastest car I have ever owned) blew engine and sold it for $4800 back in 1988.

3.) 1972 Renault 12 (needed a car quickly) thrashed the crap out of this for around a year until the head gasket went!

4.) 1971 Austin 1800 mk II (52K original miles and to this day one of the most comfortable/cozy cars I have ever owned) 'floats on fluid too'!!

5.) 1983 VH-SLE Commodore (253 V8 auto 'blue & silver two tone) nice car until 'stolen' from Adelaide city and involved in a high speed chase with cops and 'written off'!

6.) 1987 VL Calais Turbo auto 'Burgundy' ( I bought this car in 1995 from an old guy and it only had 60000km) fantastic 'mint' machine that served me well until first child came along.

7.) 2000 VX Acclaim Wagon 'Tungsten' my first 'brand new' car which I bought in 2000 when I left Holden's (not one problem in 10 years and kept my family and I safe)

8.) 2008 Tarago GLX 'black' V6 (we wanted one of these for years) this one is a little special as it has factory leather and a Clarion 15" roof mounted DVD and Toyota Sat Nav.

So there you go. Quite a few different cars with their own personalities.

I have some nice plans for the Tarago if it all goes well (would love to 'stuff' a TRD blower in there at some stage)

  7. They obviously at the time did not have enough vehicles to meet their recall requirements. The vehicle would not have been under warranty or anywhere near it, so by the letter of the law they are not obliged to actually do anything for you.

Toyota normally recall vehicles very quickly if there is a fault, as such is the case with the Aurion VVT-i oil line, which was being recalled before any real issues with it, but those vehicles were mostly still under warranty.

Sad to hear you have had a bad experience, but Toyota as a whole are a very good car company compared to most and make excellent vehicles.

The VVT-i oil line issue was never referred to as a recall here in Australia but a "Customer Service Exercise" which I found out the hard way!

Naturally Toyota put up their hand and decided to fix those cars whether they were still under warranty or not..

My experience however was a bit of a sore point as the dealership didn't do the work they told me they were going to do when I took my Tarago in for it's regular service (they said it would be 'OK' until the next service)

The hose blew 4 months later!

If it wasn't for my local dealership 'Hills Toyota' this would of have been a right old mess as the dealership responsible 'North Point Toyota' were bloody pathetic!

Toyota Australia are nothing but 'Muppets' when things go bad and told me to take up my issues with the dealership concerned.

  8. Hi,

My Tarago has just blown the high pressure oil hose after being in for a service back in December 2010.

    You might say 'so what'??

Well this car has done 47000 Km and during the last service I was advised that there was a factory recall on the engine for this reason and they would do it.

When I went to pick the car up I was advised that they didn't have the time to do it as they were busy and would postpone it until the next service (due next month)

I asked the service guy if there was a risk of the hose blowing and he said 'not to worry' as he had never had heard of it happening.

Well I have just left my car at Hills Toyota in Mount Barker SA after speaking to a very helpful technician who just happened to be there at the time and let me bring my car inside the workshop @ 20:30 at night.

The engine bay and the rear of the car is covered in oil which is a shame because I take great care of my car and feel like I have been kicked in the guts!

The dealership in question is Northpoint Toyota Hillcrest SA.

My car is still under warranty and I was wondering where I stood as far as getting the car repaired and cleaned.

I would not recommend Northpoint Toyota Hillcrest to anyone as I have also had some 'slackness' in regards to my wife's Corolla.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ralf..

  9. Well he still has a set, he was trying to hock them to me, I'm certain he said they were gunmetal.

    Hi,

Do you know how much he was after ?

I am after a dark set for.a Tarago.

    Cheers..

    Ralf...

  10. I think CMI Toyota spare parts had a set here in Adelaide for a pretty good price a few months back, maybe give them a buzz.

    Hi Dutchie,

Called CMI today and rims gone.

Hopefully someone else will know somebody with a set for sale.

    Cheers!

Ahh bugger. They were in the window at the parts shop a couple of months ago. Had a great price on them too, not surprised they sold.. Sorry!

What do you call a great price ?

    :-8

    Cheers..

  11. What's your stock wheels spec?

If stud pattern is 5, most likely it'll fit. I'm guessing ur stock wheels is 17 with 7 inch. The TRD will fit, 19x8.

    Hi,

Yup it has the stock 17" GLX factory alloys with 5 stud pattern.

Now I just need to find me those rims at a reasonable price!

Any tips on where to look apart from Toyota??

    Thanks..
