  1. Hi all,

Have been looking at a set of rims at a wreckers - they are the Vienta rims from the Gen 3 Camry (at least I have only seen them on Vientas) and they look in pretty good condition.. just a bit dirty. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/suggestions on what to look for or if second-hand rims arent a good idea so any help would be appreciated. They've still got the tyres on them and as Ive only just got new 14" (the rims are 15") on the front id probably stretch those over them and put them on the back and get new 15" for the front. Although my b/f just took 2 " off his commodore and has kept them so i could use those too.

    Thanks!

  2. I think petrol engines will still be around for some time to come - there are still plenty of motorists out there who aren't keen on gas or diesel, and at current its really the only 'viable' alternative... as I guess there are those who are still skeptical of the whole hybrid ideal... especially in terms of the power they put out.

I definitely have to agree with blue_rolla though about the future of manual trans cars (sorry getting a bit off topic) - I was absolutely over the moon when I found my manual gen 3 camry (albeit it was $9500) as I wasnt having anything but a manual and wanted at least a medium sized sedan... and whoever it was that brought up the point about car manufacturers heading towards auto's is absolutely correct... I remember when my mum bought her Mazda 323 at the end of its production the first thing the dealer said to her was "Now that'll be an automatic" and Mums like "get stuffed.. manual!" and he was really surprised... I remember they actually had to request a car from Melb that was a manual so she could have a test drive.

I know Holden you have to get an SS or higher to get a manual which is pathetic and its heading the same way most other places... I love the idea of getting a second hand Aurion as my second car in 3-4 years time but not if its a tiptronic and not a real manual!

  3. Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone out there has a Gregory's manual for their car and if so are they worth purchasing? I've a Gen 3 '95 Camry and have been toying with the idea of grabbing one every time I head into Super Cheap. Thanks for any feedback :)

  4. leasaunce I daresay the main idea behind having the next gen Camry available solely as a 4cyl will be targeted towards the fuel conscious motorists who still want a family car with a reputable name that will have a decent amount of guts for a 4 cyl. In that way I guess the Aurion will be different because its a different car... so maybe that'll get rid of the idea in some peoples heads that the Camry is an old grogans car b/c the Aurion will be specifically targeted to the "revheads."

Hmm... that wasnt worded very well but I hope you get what I mean! I guess maybe the Camry will be more targeted towards being competitive with the Mitsubishi 380 and the Aurion the Commodore's & Falcons... I guess we'll all just have to wait and see until more comes out!

  5. Toyota can be quite expensive... I was quoted $600 (:o) from Toyota for a 150,000 km service... So I told them where to go... took it back to my home town and the Mazda dealer (my mum has a Mazda) and they did it for $200 and it still runs like a dream. The minor services I just do myself.. but yeah, find somewhere cheaper than Toyota, or find a decent Toyota dealer (sounds like you have some up in NSW)!

  6. Further to whats been posted above I went to an automotive paint supplier and had a 200ml tin knocked up for $13... exact colour match. He suggested using the end of a match and dipping it in the paint and then applying to the stone chips.. as I've got a panama blue camry (the greenish/blue) the white stone chips were quite obvious... I used the end of a match and dabbed the paint on and you cant see unless you get up real close.

I hope that helps a little more :) Was also quite effective to touch up an area where some little b obviously scratched my car in a carpark.

  7. Thanks for the welcome - would love to go for a cruise.... it all depends on where and when it is! Would love to check out all these hot camry's you speak of hehehe. Ahh.. I'm from regional Vic.. got relatives in Melbourne though (doesnt everyone lol)

  8. Hello all! I'm Tash, joined yesterday after stumbling across this forum.. I'm in Victoria and own a '95 2.2l Csi in Panama Blue which I adore... couldnt have asked for a better first car! Am looking forward to upgrading to an Aurion when I'm finished with this car in another 2-3 years when I finish uni.

No real mods to speak of except for linking remote central locking with immobiliser to the central locking and a spoiler goes on in a couple of weeks... maybe some mags and that'll be about it for this poor uni student lol. Anyway thats me!
