  1. What is the equivalent of Mothers Step 1,2 & 3 if I am going to shift to Autoglym products.

    Using Mothers brand

    Step 1 : Prewax cleaner

    Step 2 : Sealant & Glaze

    Step 3 : Wax

There really isn't. I remember the good old days before the war when I too was looking for a replacement to these products. I'm personally not a fan of auto glum (except there glass polish). Your for a nicely packaged, better marketed product. The difference is next to none. Personally, It comes down to your "Hard-Core-Ness" (HCN) factor. Are you looking to add some shine that looks good for a couple of weeks or spend that little more and get some that will blow your socks off?

If your looking for products that you can get from the local Super cheap / autobarn, then stick with mothers or megs, auto glym is just overpriced and the results dont justify the spend.

If you want to goto the next level, I suggest you check out http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/33525-product-review-thread/ - there are heaps of product reviews by fellow TOCAU's that have a HCN factor greater than 8 :)

    Hope this heaps :)

  2. The best thing to do is drop it off at Toyota. Less mess, less fuss and if they ****** it ******, they have to fix it.

@OP, I think you went to western toyota? or Terry Sheilds.....they are bunch of priates in there. I toook my old camry there and there was nothing but trouble. I got rid of the car and SWEAR BLUE i'll never take it to a SYD workshop ever again.

I get my serviced at bathurst, never had a problem and they wash & vac it for me. I also get a loan car free of charge (minus the fuel). If you do go, speak top the GM Steve Gilchirst, he will look after you ;)

  3. This might be a bit old but I would invest in either Festool or Lake Country Pads.

There are different degrees of firmness in each pad, so make sure you pick the right pad for the job.

Firm Pad > Hard cutting / polishing

Soft Pad > Soft cutting / polishing / final stage

  4. i will report each time i wash the car, as with a wax, everytime you wash your car it is washed away. Today i gave it a quick wash, and still perfectly smooth and water beads and runs off. All is good. I have realized that the car is so much easier to clean and it stays clean for longer. This is great stuff :D

I'm going to have to take a step back here....."as with a wax, everytime you wash your car it is washed away." - not really if you use a ph Netural shampoo and good quality wax.

Yes I admit, wax will probably wash off faster than a sealant type product, but you can help the wax along with a good quality shampoo and some "aqua wax" style products :)

  5. people who get to the front of the line and stuff around with there purchase.

ie, they finalise the bill and go "oh $h1T, I need a pack of winny red's" & "oh crap I dropped my doughnut.....can I get another one?"..........NO YOUR FAT GIT NOW *****!

  6. If i wax or clean the car with any other products it voids the warranty!!

How?!?!?! I'm also concerned over this "lifetime" warranty. Lifetime of what? the car? The paint? What if the car was in a accident, will they still honor it after a re-spray? Will they re-apply it free of charge?

I'm sorry, tooo much grey area for my liking.

Also, after washing, can you run you hand over it and it still feels smooth? If there are ANY rough patches, your paint protection is gone!

Personally, just go and buy some good quality cleaning gear and DIY'it. If you need tips, a guide to products or someone to do it for you.........drop me a PM. FYI, i'm free most weekends and based in the middle of Sydney (p'matta)

  7. Since Daylight saving ends April 2, we need to have one last good cruise before then.

This will become EOMM March to be held on the 31st March.

    Suggestions Include:

Kangaroo Valley > Kiama > Home

    Redhead Beach (Newcastle)

    Bathurst

Everyone put your suggestions down and I'll draw up the route for the most popular one :)
