  1. Installed headlights... :) Will post pictures soon Thank you everyone for your support Camrolla
  2. Sorry for knocking this thread back up. It's been a long time since I last replied on this thread. I haven't had any spare time to install the headlights until about 2 days ago when I said to myself... I am going to do this!So I decided to stick with STYLSH's plan... thank you everyone for your ideas and opinions, I really appreciate it. For some reason I can't send STYLSH any messages perhaps your inbox is full :\ ... I pried the new lights and took the casing off. Now from my imagination the reason why I couldn't install the new lights straight away was because of the reflector (the hat sort of thing that sits above the bulb?), correct? I'm facing a problem at the moment and I was wondering if you guys could throw your opinions out this way. Personally I'm very reluctant on removing the black halogen holder from these new lights... doing so would mean that I have to cut the wire that goes to the halogen because the module can't fit through the hole. Another reason I don't want to swap the insides over because the new lights have a nice looking backcover (shiny etc..) whereas the stock ones are plain boring (dirty, smoked)... So I decided to remove the reflector (hat sort of thing not sure I am calling it the right name?) off the stock lights and place them into the new lights with a little modification. Conventional headlight (stock): New headlights: My question is: Will this fix the problem or am I completely on the wrong track here? Thanks again Camrolla
  3. Any suggestions on how to loosen this belt and replace it? Thanks Camrolla
  4. Just pin pointed the noise. Coming from alternator belt. Camrolla
  5. AE102s have a timing belt (not a chain), but it is behind a cover and highly unlikely to be the problem (plus, toothed belts are highly unlikely to slip and thus squeal). The culprit will be one of the exposed accessory/drive belts that power the air-con, alternator, water pump and power-steering pump. I also thought the same, didn't think it was the timing belt. The timing belt can't be affected by the pressure washer as it's very well hidden....Should I try hosing it again? Have a good feeling that there's still degreaser caught in it.... or even that soap method mentioned above? Thanks, Camrolla
  6. Should I hose it again? Maybe there's still degreaser on the belts? Thanks Camrolla
  7. The car is a Corolla AE102... From where I can here the noise it's coming from an outer belt but not an accessory belt :\ ... Camrolla
  8. Thanks for the prompt replies. I am new to belts so could you please tell me how I can take the timing belt off and reverse it? Sorry... Camrolla
  9. Yes that's correct. I just can't understand how though... only hosed the engine bay for 30-40 seconds, if that, with the pressure washer. Can't think of any components getting damaged.... Please help Thanks Camrolla
  10. Hello there, I degreased and washed my engine bay yesterday afternoon. Ever since I washed it there has been an unusual whistling sound coming from my belts. It's like a whistling/screeching sound and gets louder as I accelerate and it lasts for about 3 mins and goes away after the engine is hot. I suspect it's from a pulley of one of the belts but my question is how can the car wash trigger this sort of thing to happen? I was using a pressure washer from a distance on the engine bay. Your suggestions and help would be largely appreciated Thanks, Camrolla
  11. If only this previous owner had got it replaced this wouldn't have been such a drama Camrolla
  12. Impossible to take off. Tried everything... towels... more clearance... If I try more I will definitely bend the fuel line Regards, Camrolla
  13. Thanks for your reply. For some reason I can't send you private messages... never mind anywayI was thinking more along the lines of this: http://rinconrolla98...olla-93-97.html and this: http://www.diymytoyo...ace-driveshaft/ What do you think? Thanks again Camrolla
  14. Thinking of giving it a shot tomorrow using some towels. Nothing else I can think of... :(
  15. Hello Working on a second hand car I picked up and I'm having trouble removing my fuel filter. I've been standing here for the past hour trying to loosen the nut at the inlet. Both of them (inlet and outlet) are as hard as rock. Have been spraying WD-40 trying to lubricate the whole process and using various spanners and wrenches but it's just not working :( I don't want to damage the threads of the fuel line. Please help Thanks Camrolla
  16. Just wondering whether I should replace the driveshaft myself or getting it done by a garage... Camrolla
  17. Thanks for the reply. Is it just the lower control arm that I have to pry and detach from the hub in order to make the hub sway left right freely? Thanks again Camrolla
  18. Thinking of replacing the driveshaft. I know for sure that it's either an inner or outer CV joint just can't pinpoint which exactly. Are there any fancy tools required when replacing the driveshaft? I've a few methods in mind just if someone could tell me how perhaps they'd go about doing it? Thanks a lot Camrolla
  19. Just hit over 400 kms on the tank today... but that was because I did about 100km highway milage... better results but not the best. Not what I'm after :( Regards, Camrolla
  20. Thanks for the reply. Tightened it. Still no improvement... I suspect that it's my drive shaft. Did about 100kms on the highway yesterday and it gets louder as its very hot... noise comes when slowing down below 40kmph...Thanks Camrolla
