  1. I figured that I should see if everything was tight today but never not around to it. Thanks for reminding me :)Thanks for your help. Will keep you posted Regards, Camrolla
  2. Thanks for the prompt reply.I too thought that there's only one O2 sensor. I can see one connected right on the manifold... would that be the one? Sorry I haven't tried pulling error codes... It's an Auto... it hits 4th after 80kmph... I think it was you that told me the torque converter was kicking in at this stage... rpm drops to 2000... Thanks again Camrolla
  3. Removed the guard today and went for a test run. Turned out not to be the guard :( Still investigating... Regards, Camrolla
  4. Hello there, Just recently I've been starting to hear a knocking/rubbing noise from the driver's side of my Corolla 96. Strange thing is I only hear it when: - Pulling off and coming to stop at traffic lights - When I'm doing 10-40 kmph (slow speeds) - When my wheels are straight (don't hear it when I'm turning) I didn't worry about it till now because I normally have the stereo on in the car and hear it ocassionally. But just yesterday for a change I drove with everything turned off (A/C, stereo, windows down etc..) just to see if I can pin-point this noise and I heard it more than I used to. I suspect it's my mud guard on my driver's side as it's quite loose and wobbly. I jacked the car up this afternoon and checked to see if it was the guard... there's an empty scrivet hole but there's no other panel for it to clip onto on the other side? hmmm.. Still keeping hopes that it's the guard. I'm thinking of taking the whole guard off tomorrow and going for a test run. If you could throw your suggestions this way that would be great too ;) Thanks again, Camrolla
  5. New TOCAU website runs slower than a slug with a hangover on the computers at work... That's fine.Did you have any suggestions? Replaced the fuel filter and air filter... still no improvement.. I'm thinking of cleaning the O2 sensors... what do you think? Thanks again
  6. Sorry I haven't been able to post in a while. I'm still not getting a good gas milage :( I replaced the air filter and the fuel filter and shock treated about two full tanks of petrol with infector cleaner and I'm still NOT getting a substancial improvement :( As per the specifications my Corolla has a 50 litre tank. However when I fill up at the shed I can only pump around 40? What's going on there?...I run with the indicator on for a while as well... :( The next step I'm thinking of taking is cleaning the O2 sensors... any comments on this? Thanks a lot for your help.
  7. Just replaced the fuel filter. There was alot of unpleasant grime. Thanks Camrolla
  8. Replaced the old fuel filter. There was alot of unpleasant grime. I presume it was never replaced before I bought the car. Thanks Camrolla
  9. Just had a look at the fuel filter and it couldn't have been in a worser place to get to... :(Mine's on 179 000 kms and the year is a 1996 Thanks Camrolla
  10. I was unsure about the fuel filter too.The other two I was sure of, just wanted to know how different people went about changing them. Thanks a lot for your help Much appreciated Camrolla
  11. Hi there :D I was wondering if you'll can help me out a little here. How can I replace the following (most safe and efficient way): 1. Oil filter 2. Air filter 3. Fuel filter Perhaps if you could give me a run down step by step for each that would be great ;) I want to know the most safe and efficient methods... Thanks for your help Camrolla
  12. So should I wait it out until I replace the fuel filter & O2 sensor and then use the fuel injector cleaner? Or should I just use it now along with a full tank of Premium 98? Will using it now have any harm on my fuel system? Thanks for your help :D Much Appreciated
  13. Do you think this is a good deal?TOYOTA COROLLA OIL AIR FUEL FILTER PACK AE101 AE102 AE112 Where can I find a good genuine O2 sensor? Are the fuel filters and O2 sensors easy to install? Thanks for your help! :D
  14. Just purchased a bottle of Fuel Doctor from Super Cheap. I still have about 3/7 of unleaded fuel left in the tank. Do I put the cleaner in when the tank is empty for after filling up to full tank (50L)? Can I just add it straight to regular unleaded fuel or do I add it to 98 premium full tank? (I've never used anything other than Regular Unleaded) Thanks for the help :)
  15. Does it have to be 98 Premium or anything like that or is it alright just adding it to regular unleaded? Thanks again!
  16. Thanks for your responses :) Regards, Camrolla
  17. Hello there :D This thread is related to the thread I made a while ago: Toyota Corolla 1.8L Fuel Consumption Unfortunately I have a fuel consumption issue with my Corolla. On the full tank it will only do about 350kms. :( I intend on cleaning the fuel injectors and giving the whole car a flush of some sort. I was wondering if I could get some advise on how to use Fuel Injector Cleaners properly? They sell them at the fuel stations and a friend of mine told me to pump a full tank of 98 Premium (normally use Regular Unleaded) and then add some fuel injector cleaner? Any ideas what I should do? Thanks for your help Much Appreciated :)
  18. So it's pointless looking for error codes with an OBDI port?I have the OBDII scanner (Cheap Bluetooth one)... what type of vehicles will I be able to use it with? Are there specific vehicles or is it just whatever vehicles that have the right port? Thanks for your help :)
  19. I bought an OBD2 scanner :( Vehicles manufactured in 1996 or after have OBD2 right? Whereabouts can I find the port? There's one under the hood which says Diagnosis? Paperclip? Thanks for your help!
  20. Will this device work on my 1996 Corolla? Where can I find the port? There is one under the hood which says Diagnosis on it but I don't think it's the right one? Thanks Camrolla
  21. Should I try using one of those OBD Readers? Thanks Camrolla :D
  22. I have to admit, they are excellent little runners :DThanks :)
  23. The procedure you've mentioned is what I actually do...hehe of course you'll never add exactly 50L :P... click twice, reset trip meter, drive as usual until the tank empties. :) Perhaps the car needs a full clean (injectors, ECU etc...)? I really want to work on my car :P If possible, would you be able to send through those wiring diagrams? That would be excellent if you can :) If it's too much of a hassle don't bother. :D There are times when I have two adults going in the car as well (So three including myself). If you consider this would you still say that I'm not getting the best fuel milage? With the torque converter scene, what did you mean by manually drop the tranmission out of overdrive? Did you mean in other words to just turn it OFF from the switch on the gear lever or? When I floor the accelerator I have to admit I get the most unpleasant engine rev :( And I feel that I'm doing too much harm to the engine :P hehe Then again, These are small cars with small engines which were manufactured to be the World's Best Small Car...haha Thanks :D
