  1. Hey guys,

ive got my TRD front strut brace and rear sway bars up for sale. Both in pretty much immaculate condition. The TRD front strut brace is no longer available, and im pretty sure the rear sway is heaps hard to come by these days.

wanting $350 for the front strut brace and $200 for the rear sway bar.

will post up pictures when i get a chance.

  2. Hey guys, I'm new here. I have been wanting to a Corolla Sportivo for a while, but never had the money. After much saving I now have the funds and I'm open to all offers, so please send through anything to mitchy_boy_1@hotmail.com (gay address, I know). I am located in Earlwood, NSW.

I have a mate that lives around your area that might be selling his. It's a white 2005 sportivo with black eye lids, immaculate condition. Don't think he's posted it up on carsales though.

I think I may have already been in contact with him, is his name Aaron?

    Yeah thats him

  4. My corolla ZRE 152R 1.8 auto hatch gives me 450 to 480 KM per tank i.e. 55 litres . Driving is Inner city driving 40 to 60 KM/hr with constant start/stop and lots of idle waiting in the traffic lights. Is this what I should expect from my Corolla or, does it need tune up? My car is currenly showing 10.6 l/100km in dash.

I only use Unleaded petrol not the very expensive like BP ultimate nor cheaper E10.

I used to drive 1.3 yaris before and used to give me around 480 KM to 530 KM full tank i.e. 42 litres.

    Cheers

thats normal for city driving. i get 500km per tank with city driving also,.

  5. The head will need to be stripped, decked, cleaned, put back together. The tolerances checked, adjusted, checked adjusted, checked, adjusted, checked, adjusted, checked, adjusted, checked and so on. That will consume about 8 hours and about $400 in parts. Head removal and installation probably another 12 hours or so. So about $2k to pay someone to build the head.

As for the oil pump gears mentioend above by xoom, there are no cheap options here, only TODA (not toga) do the gears, and I would trust them over some no name brand (there is a thread on the subject).

So need to ask yourself, do you need to be able to rev to 9500rpm? If so then you'll also need the rods and pistons added to the list. What about the stgae 2 cams with stock valve train? There is only an issue with prolonged high rpm exposure. The stock valves can snap at the retainer, but I don't think that is linked directly to the Piper cams, but rather the poor design of the stock Toyota valves themselves. But as I said it's only really an issue with A LOT of lift, 10 times a day isn't a lot.

The cams also need to have VVT tuning to get the power out of them. So make sure you have something that can adjust that. If you do get the valves, make sure it's the flat faced valves as they increase the comrpession ratio slightly. This is important as you drop dynamic compression with the extra overlap with the Piper cams. you won't recover it all unless you replace the pistons, but something is better than nothing.

Did you do stage 2 cam upgrade yourself... or did you have to take it professionals, if so how much was it? Cheers.

    He is a professional....

  6. nah no more... i'm over it lol... Never investing in a performance exhaust until i've heard it and been in a car with it on. That's me ey, just way impulsive. Never thinking always just doing it.

Wonder how long it would take to polish up the whole muffler barrel and all, not just the tip.

I took my old headers in to CES this morning and asked Trevor about the exhaust noise..he was absolutely adamant that the CES exhaust does not drone or resonate within the cabin. He's gonna find time next week and will be refitting it back to the car himself to make sure the drone and resonation is not there. He did mention a bigger resonator if need be.

If you know of anyone with one installed, jump in their car and let me know if it drones at all :)

I dunno man, something about the varex just doesn't do it for me.

i had a CES installed once upon a time ago, i certainly felt a difference in lift after i installed it, however your quite right- it drones badly. I went back to stock after about 2 months with it on (had to swap over as i started work at 5am and couldnt stand hearing the exhaust drone so early in the morning).

Dont worry though, if you put it up for sale in this forum, it will get sold in a heart beat.

  7. Quick update, finally got it plugged with a rubber cap. Turns out the hose was the issue all along. Big thanks to prozak and superdave for the input. No longer switching off when in neutral. Will do a ECU reset on the weekend as it seems to be driving okay for the moment.

  8. That blue Thingi correct me if I'm

Wrong bits it's a one way valve ? Something to do with your stock air box flap that opens up when in lift

I checked that blue cylindrical bit, and its already been blocked off.

As for the actual CAI where the hose connects to it, im going to block it off with a 15mm grommet, is that the right plugging tool to use?

Long as its blocked off bud !

Let us know how you go

No worries. One more thing, once its blocked, should i reset ECU? or is there no need?

  10. It's running bad becuase you have a vacuum leak. That big hose going to the front needs to be blocked off at the CAI. Head to supercheap/autobarn/et cetera for a cap. Just think, it's letting in unfiltered air, so fix that immediately. Also, that blue cylindrical thing also needs to be blocked off. You can either block it off where it connects to the plenum and remove the extra, or fold it back on itself and zip tie it. I'm surprised it's driveable.

Will do. Ill head to super cheap on Thursday to sort it out. Just a quick question, what is the blue cyclindrical thing and where is the plenum?

And to Prozak, apologies, i thought everything was blocked off until i got feed back from everyone.

  11. im gonna change to a 3A racing pod to see what the go is, hopefully ill know whether or not its back to 600km+ per tank by the end of next week.

Dead o2 sensor? Does the exhaust smell really fuelly, or does your oil? Need to be careful of overfueling as too much fuel can wash the thin film of oil off of the bores.

Which CAI did you install? If the airflow to the MAFS isn't good it can read wrong and give all sorts of issues such as overfueling.

i installed the Injen CAI. I got a mechaninc that has previously installed one on a sportivo before hand. Ill take some photos and post them to see if anythings missing. The exhaust does smell slightly richer on some start ups. Mechanic also ran a hose attached from the CAI down to the fins of the front bar which its sitting between, apparently he says it was so that hot air can escape whilst the pod sucks in cold air. Ill post a pic up of it tomorrow.

So here are the pictures, hopefully they come up:
