    I can't answer your question but I think you are on the right track with mounting the Rotex on the gearbox side and running a shaft to it.

    I'm sure and local machinist could fab something up for you to make it work. Often Rotex chargers are used on a extended drive shaft and I don't see them making a specific model for extended drive shafts so I'm sure you'll be able to remove the pulley and fit a shaft to it.

    I'm sorry it was not my intention to detract from your topic with my Honda comment. Don't worry about some people around here, they can get a bit hot headed and insecure some times. we'll laugh it off :clap:

    Look forward to seeing your Build, I was not much help this time but keep posting your questions and I'll try and help where I can, sometimes its a good idea to bounce ideas around.

    I assume you mean the thing controls the airbox flap???

    The hose coming out of the electronic valve that is opened in lift by the computer goes into the

    round diapham looking connection ?

    this allows the vacuum to open the flap in lift.
  3. Yes I'm keeping the stock cat as it is good enough already.

    I have done many search's in regards to exhausts but no where could I find a answer to my question about the axle back section of the exhaust.

    It makes sence I could not find the answer I was looking for, I did not realise your stock sportivos exited on the right hand side.

    Here in NZ all our 2zz are Japan imports. And the exhaust comes over the axel on the right hand side makes a 90 degree turn into the rear muffler and then another 90 degree turn out the rear of the car on the left hand side.

    Does anyone have a rear muffler they can recommend that is a perfect fit for exiting on the right hand side?

  4. There is one small hose that connects just after the throttle body butterfly their are two bigger hoses also connecting to the throttle body at the same point. This little hose has a directional flow valve in it allowing only air to flow towards the throttle body (/intake manifold).

    Then it goes into a t-joint by the AirBox. One of the other two points on the t-joint goes to a vacuums cavity on the back side of the air box.

    The final point on the t-joint goes to the vacuum solenoid valve, that then goes to and controls flap on the air box that opens in lift.

  5. Hi All,

    I'm needing some advice for a performance exhaust.

    At this stage I think I want a 2.5" cat back with a magnaflow resonator after the cat in the mid section.

    But after this I’m not sure??? After the rear Axel the stock exhaust makes a 90 degree turn enters the rear muffler (travels across the width of the car) then makes another 90 degree turn and exits the rear of the car on the left hand side.

    This to me seems to be restrictive design. Would it be better to go over the rear axel and straight out on the right hand side of the car??

    I think this would keep a higher exhaust flow velocity to counter the step up from 2.25" to 2.5" as we all know velocity is key with N/A cars

    I see some of you on the forum have your rear muffler exiting straight out on the right hand side, would you care to explain why and what rear muffler you used to do it as it will need to be a fairly short one.

  6. Thanks Flopper, thats really good to know. sounds all good, hopefully I will fill out that dip in power before lift a little bit.

    I assume you are talking from experience, so how was fuel consumption affected when commuting any different? as the motor is working in that unresponsive range the majority of the time around town.

  7. it is standard for oil filters to let unfiltered oil through. They have a piece of spring steal at the end of the filter media holding it in place, so when the oil pressure gets too high the filter media can move down and let the oil bypass it.

    This is important as you don't want the media rupturing under pressure and letting all the metal filth it has collected back into your motor.

    This bypass is most common when your oil is cold and thicker than normal, thus generating more pressure on the filter.

    Say you have a 60 weight oil start your car cold and pull out of your driveway doing 8000 rpm with cold oil, its going to be applying more pressure to the filter media than usual maybe so much it could rupture, there for all good filter should be able to let oil past.

  8. Yeah been talking about doing a 2.5" magnaflow cat back, not sure about getting the magnaflow cat aswell?

    I have no plans to install a lsd at the moment, seems like a lot of money and I really don't drive to need one that often to can't justify it. With the biger tires and trd dampners I don't spin the inside wheel often.

  9. Even if the capacitor is broken, your music Will still play. Because it should be wired as a parallel 12v supply to the regular 12v supply from the battery.

    So yes it could be dead.

    However for your safety, being a capacitor and being dangerous I would not assume it is dead. I would assume just the leds and led display has failed and the capacitor still has the potential to be alive and dangerous.

    There are many nicely modified Corolla's in this community that I've been drawing inspiration from so though I would share a few pics of my universal and practical corolla.

    My previous car was a Subaru V7 STi, had it worked a little. Lovely to drive performance, grip, stable, long distance trips, nice gear box and clutch, probably the best all around car I've experienced. Always said Evo's are better for racing but STi's are better for Daily Driving :toast: .

    So now your wondering why I turned around and got a Corolla, Basically now that I live in the city and 2km from work I could never stretch the legs on the Subaru plus the sensation of speed had diminished. It was always being run cold and drinking fuel. If I didn't mind spending money on petrol and tires getting eaten by AWD I would have another one, maybe if I win Lotto :g:
