  1. Slightly related but, now I can appreciate all the money I spent on upgrading to better headlamp bulbs. I asked in the Angel Eyes Headlight thread about the High beam in Aurions and you all told me how great it was, mine goes in for 2 brand new headlight assemblies today (13th March), under warranty since the original ones were faulty and put together wrong at the factory. High beam was good if you are looking for koalas, it actually lit up the tops of the power poles as I drove down a dark streets. If not for you guys I would have just thought the high beam was rubbish in Aurions, but thanks for all your input or I would have never known to get toyota to check them out and now replace them. Looking forward to long hauls on the highway now, wish I had found this site and you guys before I drove from North Queensland to Melbourne and back. Would have made much better time on the trip with night driving being so slow, too many roos for me to open her up at night cause the high beam was that bad. With the new headlamps and my upgraded bulbs hopefully night will become day. Thanks for all your support and hope I can contribute back to the site. :toast::clap:

  2. Hi all,

Just finish washing my aurion and noticed all these white paint spots all over the front, side and rear plastic bumpers. The spots are just on the plastic and not metal panels. I tried to polish out but no improvement. Any ideas of what it could be? just so when i get it resprayed it doesn't happen agen.

    Cheers Mitch

    Wow. Those images are huge.

    Have you tried claying it?

Yeah, if it feels like overspray or paint spots, try your local auto paint shop and get some 'Overspray Clay', it's hard work but worth it, my neighbour use to do a lot off spraying with pressure packs and my last car had white overspray on the whole car, even the glass. Took 3 days but the 3M overspray clay I got was magic at removing it, don't know if you know the stuff but it looked & felt like blue-tac to me, probably was for all I know. If you are sure it's from road line marking paint my brother-in-law works for the local council, I could get him to find out what type of paint they use & how to remove it or you may be able to contact your council and ask them direct. God knows what type of paint they use cause it's got reflective granules or something in it. It looks like water marks but under the clear coat as you said. Hope that helps and you can get rid of it easily. You could take it to a spraypainter and see what their opinion is.

  3. That I will Metal. I have used up my download so am back to dial up speed, so frustrating, it's from looking at all those youtube vids with Aurions, all started with the exhaust vid, was taking forever to download what you posted today but I have copied the links and I get my full speed back on the 16th, long 5 days it's gonna be...lol

  4. Hi Tanny, in the Camry I had before my Aurion, I upgraded the rears to Sony Xplode 200w RMS 3 way 6 x 9s that were on special at the time at Supercheap Auto. In the front doors I put Response Precision series 75w RMS 6 x 9 kevlar cone 2 way coaxials with 1" adjustable dome tweeters from Jaycar (they still carry them according to their catalogue $119, says Qty 1 but it means pair I'm sure), they gave great base in the front with the tweeter putting out clear highs adjusted upwards pointing to the head of the opposite side passenger. They all fitted into the factory holes well with minor alterations to the plastic door pods for the fronts. All round it gave a good sound and I was impressed. I have not looked at the front Aurion doors yet but I know the Sony's would fit the rear, gave a good sound all round with just the factory head unit. Hope that helps.

  5. Thanks Trent, That's good that the traction control is the way it is and not faulty. When my brakes have locked up it's usually been under hard braking and one wheel will hit a loose patch of dirt or water on the road and it will stop/skid that wheel but only when the car has almost come to a complete stop. It will lock up just for a second or so. Maybe I need to ease off the pedal when the car is coming to a stop.

  6. I am wanting to know how good Aurion Traction control and ABS is, my Aurion gets wheels spin under hard acceleration going straight or turning left or right and is worse is wet weather. It always spins on gravel/dirt roads. Was just wondering if this was common, I mean it doesn't light up the tyres like I would expect with the grunt it has, have told toyota and they have tuned the computer to the full extent of the adjustment available yet I still get wheel spin occasionally or if I try I can get wheel spin sometimes. Is it just the way they are?? As for my ABS which toyota has tuned the computer to the full extent, on hard braking, particularly if I it's over the white lines I will get a skid and also on loose gravel on the road. Is this a common thing and how they are ment to be?? If you guys could let me know it would be much appreciated.

  7. i don't get folding mirrors. I've been driving for nearly 20 years and never had to fold in my mirrors. Anyways just sounds like alot of coin for something I'd never use.

My partner bought a 2010 Corolla Ascent Hatch which has fold back mirrors as standard, she';s in Melbourne at the moment, I drove down last year to give my Aurion a good run (From Townsville North QLD, around 2800k's each way) and Melbourne parking is shocking, parks are so small. My mirrors got knocked around a bit in carparks when I would get back to the car, some people don't have any respect for other people's cars, I had no dents in it either, was down there a month and got 3 from pricks opening their doors onto it.

  8. Folding mirrors arrived today from TOYOTA camry/solara power-folding signal side mirror SAE/07~2010, the site says their address is San Diego, CA but the return address on the box has the same name of the person on the emails I recieved from them and return address was Taiwan. Backs or should I say fronts, the bit to be painted is very hard to get on, don't want to push to hard in case I break the glass of the clips, can't say for sure till I get it on in a trial but it doesn't look like it's going to be the neatest fit. 4 SMD LED indicators on each but I wonder how you replace them if one blows, I'd say you replace the whole indicator section, instrructions are vague at first, they dont tell you what plug is in the pic. No actual switch to fold the mirrors back but the module I had to purchase was called auto-folding switch. I guess that says it all. Some of the parts shown in the glossy instuctions don't look the same as what came with the kit. There is suppose to be a driver side & passenger side harness according to the instructions pic but this is not so. May all be clearer after a bit of a play with it, wires named but they do not say if they are positive or negative so makes a bench test a bit hard. For all I know when I pull the door trims off it may plug straight in, they show a plug you are to change the pins around in to suit the mirror but they don't tell you where it's located but it is meant for left hand drive, the vehicle in the photos has the Lexus 'L' in the centre of the steering wheel. Again being left hand drive they don't tell you the colour or location of the indicator lights wires and there is no scotch clips (those blue wire joiners) but the photo of the kit shows them. Will take pics and post as I go, I'll consult a auto-electrician and he may make sense of it all straight away and probably will get it wired professionally to protect some of my warranty though it is not a genuine part. Toyota have already told me that an Oil pressure gauge sender would void the warranty on any problem with the gaskets or oil related problems even if not even related to the sender.

  9. I am going to do this mod next year to mine, I was just wondering, are the vids that are on here so we can hear the sound, are the cars in them supercharged models or naturally aspirated. Just need a comparison cause mine is not supercharged, I imagine the note would be different from a supercharged car. I like the idea of leaving the resonator and deleting the mufflers and straight through pipes, not sure wether to stay with 2" or go to 2.5". I noticed some have listed they have deleted the resonator and changed the muffler. I like the sound of blue Aurion that Vijith555 posted and was wondering what the proper specs are on the mod, that is the sound I am after.

  10. I'm going to use the CCFL's I bought for the door pockets in the boot, then going all LED on the interior lights (dome, map & vanity). Want to do the door courtesy/step lights in red leds but the T10 wedge bulb sits in the middle of the diffused cover and all the LEDs I have tried only light up 1/2 the lens, Leds don't shine below the wedge base. I'm looking at making custom festoon bulb holders that sit in there and I can get the LED festoons in red, that should shine brightly out the whole diffuser.

  11. 'These are aftermarket part.

You need our control module to fold the mirror assy the whole set, it's dofferent rom the moving of glass only.

    Thanks!'

a 'ruyun lue' is the person on the emails. I am not sure wether to go ahead with buying them until I know the answers to these, can anyone here help me?

    LMAO!!!! Wow!

Sounds like you will need an additional control module because your power mirror controls will only control the mirror, not the entire folding unit.

Ask if they sell the control module and how much. I'm keen too if you wanted to try for a group discount.

Definitely aftermarket or it would cost an insane amount of money.

    Hi GDUBB,

The site has the choice of an ' auto-fold switch for $48 and a Tilt control switch for $78 but they replied back to me tonight with this:

    'Yes!

The mirrors equiped with the motors to move the glass. It's compatable with the existing controls in your car.

Since we don't carry the tilt module any more, I don't have any answer for this issue.

    Thanks!'

I have asked them again about the wiring diagram and which of the 2 switches they list I would need to fold the mirror back at least but they haven't got back to me yet.

  12. Chicken: the lights would be dimmable if I added and inline adjustable dimmer but each door would have be done seperately as they piggy back off the puddle lamps, alternatively as a permanent solution I could extend the wire from the transformer to the cathode, but I like them bright as they aren't on when i drive.

Nothing really protects them as I don't put anything inside the pockets, but they will be replaced by surface mounted LEDs when they turn up which will also be located in the knee high pockets too biggrin.gif

Yeah the colour isn't my favourite either, I'm going for blue and then I'm getting UV down lights for under my bonnet and then I'm going to put green uv cable sleeving on all the hoses and wires in my engine bay

How did the cathodes perform as footwell lights particularly when they fade in or out with the interior light or did they just go out or come on immediately?

  13. Nice.

I used self adhesive LED strip lights for mine.

Sticky backed, so they can be mounted on the side of the map pocket to clear any "things" that people put in there.

Low power consumption, like that's an issue.

I have blue in the footwells, door pockets and boot.

With the LED stips, which side of the door pocket did you mount them on, the side closest to the seat or on the door side?

  14. This is the response I got after asking 5 questions about the mirrors. I cant make much sense of it, I asked if they were genuine or aftermarket parts, does it come with fitting instructions and a wiring diagram, will it work with the existing electric mirror controls in my car and which switch will I need to fold the mirrors back and tilt down for reverse parking and if they are aftermarket are they desighed for Toyotas and the models listed. That was my 5 questions to them and this was their reply. (copy and pasted)

  15. As for the power fold mirrors, I was annoyed when my partner got her Corolla Ascent Hatch not long after I got my Aurion and it has the power-fold back mirrors, would love that option.

I have looked a bit into this for the Aurion as i was looking into getting them for mine too. After a few hours searching around online, i came up with nothing. It seems there's not many places that do these aftermarket, and none at all that i can see for the Aurion/Camry.

I hardly looked into the matter. Typed 'power mirror' into our forum search and:

    Folding Mirrors

With that information in mind, a quick Google search:

    TOYOTA camry/solara power-folding signal side mirror SAE/07~2010

Has anyone else delt with this site, I have sent several emails asking about the mirrors, they do not answer all my questions or they don't anwer them clearly and refer to parts I will need from them that are not called in the switch selection as they call them in the email. I have asked them to answer my 5 questions in one email, and they answered only 2 and one was very vague. Has anyone else had problems with communication with this site?

Maybe try the wreckers for a set or the Corolla ones could have the same side mirrors or they might fit your Aurion or you could modify the Corolla ones into yours.
