  1. If all you need done is engine oil/filter and air filter then just do it yourself, they're both easy jobs and you'll save on labour costs (which will be most of what a dealership/mechanic would charge). Oil filter is ~$10, oil you can get 5L of a decent brand for $20-30, air filter is about $10-20 or so (been a while since I bought one since I've got a K&N), would take all of half an hour to do, only tools are jacks/chassis stands (although you can get away without them if the car isn't lowered), socket/spanner for the sump plug and an filter removal tool/rubber glove and pan for the oil and filter.

  2. Sorry its been a while guys had some stuff going on, I ended up getting a perfect fibre glass one from poland of all places. So its in the process of getting fixed now and then my car is perfect. Only downside is I am now looking to sell haha.

What was the quality like on the Polish one? I remember seeing them ages ago but wasn't really keen on buying something unseen and untested from halfway around the world..

Also selling mine so not really much use to me, but the next owner (who is also on here) I'm sure would be keen to know.

  3. Even the smartest auto will never change exactly when you want it to in all situations. As for sequentials etc, if I wanted to change gear with a button or a paddle I'd boot up my XBox and play Forza. It's not just about changing gears when you want to, it's the combination of pressing the clutch pedal, lifting off (or not lifting off) the accelerator and slotting the lever into place, all at exactly the right time - every gear change is a skilled operation, and the sense of satisfaction you get from maximising your own physical skills beats pushing a button hands down every day of the week for me. Even driving to and from work every day I heel-toe, because I can. It's a dying art these days, unfortunately.

  4. These days it's not about potential anymore, it's the experience. DSGs, paddle-shifts etc are getting faster than traditional manuals and to some extent replicating the experience (ie no 'Drive' mode or torque converter slip etc) of a manual, but there are still people out there (me included) who enjoy the pure mechanical feel, control and connection to the car you get with a proper manual gearbox, and performance be damned.

  5. Why are Facebook, Google and MSN/Bing showing as members online and can't click on them? Just curious, was looking at the locked defect thread and showing FB also reading it

It is to do with the search engine daemons scouring the internet and updating their cache or something

  6. Good thing about NRMA is that you don't have to list mods at all, if it's legal then they automatically cover it with no premium increase, you just adjust your agreed value to suit

    oh for real ??

    thats awesome thenn !! i never knew that > > noob !!!

Yep, same goes for their house/contents insurance - you don't have to list all the valuables in the house.

They implemented all that stuff when they went to their "keep it simple" style a year or so ago.

  7. so.... im driving a toyota forklift? lol! damn it this is getting even wierder..

Not really, it's just an engine that continued in use in commercial vehicles and equipment long after it stopped being a passenger car engine. Wouldn't surprise me if it's not a Suzuki SJ/Sierra/Samurai chassis, isn't uncommon to see K-series engines installed in them as an upgrade over the 1.0L 'Zook engine

why is it the only thing working on this car is the toyota engine itself?!

Because it's a K-series - they're indestructible. I know people who have driven them with blown headgaskets without even realising, just topping up the coolant when needed.

  8. Towing capacity is based off several factors, including mass of the vehicle, torque characteristics of the engine, the load capacity of the frame of the vehicle, the strength of the attachment points for the tow hitch, brakes, suspension/stability, transmission/cooling etc etc.

Ford have designed the Falcon to tow as much as it does (in the past they had heavy duty towing packs as options, but it appears standard now) since a lot of people use Falcons/Commodores to tow boats/caravans etc. A Falcon isn't that much lighter than a Kluger though (~1700kg compared to ~1800/1900kg?), but they do have a big engine with lots of low-down torque (ideal for towing).

  9. I'm not really liking the steering wheel, for some reason it looks like it belongs to a small hatchback.

I was more thinking it needs a couple of thumbsticks to go with the D-Pads....

  10. ok i am from australia and own a 2001 toyota celica sx,i found a set of wheels which are called dr 19 by drag wheels in america the offset is 45mm and is 17x7.5 but csa wheels here told me they have a wheel called the motorvatr which is 17x7 but the offset is 48mm i want the dr19's but i was told on another thread it would sink to much into the car and wouldnt line up with fenders wouldnt the motorvatr wheels sink even more being 48mm? or does the fact that the 17x7.5 and the 17x7 have anything to do with it can some1 please help thnx

Yes, the width (the 7 and 7.5) does play a part. However, since they have essentially the same offset the 17x7 wheels will sit about 1/4" further into the car (this is only ~6mm or so).

    Pictures tell a thousand words:
