  1. It comes down to which dealer you go to. You will find that some dealers actually like selling TRD parts, and those ones will give you full warranty on them (Castle Hill Toyota, NSW, for example; STi Docklands, Melbourne, as another) I'm fairly certain that there will be at least one Mazda dealer who specialises in MazdaSpeed stuff. Also, different dealerships will give you different responses regarding warranty - some of them see it as a factory part (which in essence it is). In general, I have found most dealerships to honour your warranty unless your modifcation caused a failure, in which case the failed item will not be covered. For example, if you are having warranty issues with your suspension, however you have done engine modifications, then it will not affect your suspension.
  2. I know what you mean about the price tag attached to TRD/Mazdaspeed/Mugen/STi/NISMO parts. However if you think about it, the price tag is justified. * Their products are a guaranteed fit, with as little frustration as possible (usually!) * Their products have gone through much R&D, and have been rigorously tested (let's hope) * Their products will not void new car warranty (I've asked and tested this) * There was another point but I forgot it (oops) At the end of the day, I don't just go for brand name items (although I admit, I am a bit of a bling / brand slut when it comes to car parts :D), I generally go for what is the best value for money vs the best performance. I mean, some factory tune parts are worth buying, some are just ridiculously expensive, some are not as good as other aftermarket products for the same price bracket. B)
  3. I tried calling last time we did a group buy on them, they told me that the 5th gen one will suit. I have tried the TWM, TRD and C's shifter for the Celica, by far the C's one is the best feel. TRD and C's are not the cheapest, however I have no troubles paying for quality, especially for a TRD product - fitment is always guaranteed to be spot-on perfect. It's the way Toyota was meant to be ;) lol
  4. Basically, the 6th gen fits in the 5th gen... however the 6th gen stock shifter is shorter than the 5th gen shifter and there is no point getting a shortened 5th gen shifter if it's going to be the stock height! I know some 6th gen Celica owners who have bought the TWM shifter and found that it is not much difference from stock. In addition - their shifters are straight, which throws out the throw (pardon the pun) :P
  5. TWM make a shifter for the 5th gen but not the 6th gen. And the 6th gen shifter fits in a 5th, a lot of ppl use the 6th gen shifter in a 5th gen as a shortshifter... so go figure :P
  6. There's a different part number for the new shape ZZE Corolla.
  7. I would recommend a C's short shifter.. It's not cheap, about $300, but it is short. Only downside is that it is a hassle to fit. The other suggestion I have is the TRD quickshift, that is as easy as it gets when it comes to replacement - drop in, drop out. Let me know if you are interested in either of the products, I can supply either of them.
  8. Yep, I can sell you performance parts and whatever else you need. PM me with what you're after and I'll get you a price.
  9. Agree with 3) Nathan. Suspension mods make the car so much more fun to drive - oh yeah Nate, you might be interested in a group buy I'll have happening soon on ozcelica, for a set of adjustable swaybar endlinks which allow you to pre-load your swaybar for oversteer ;) :D
  10. hehe... get an ST205... fixes both the oil filter location, and it can eat WRXs for breakfast ;) Plus the engine is a lot stronger, mine's doing daily 18psi without a problem.
  11. I can get the Blitz supercharger kit for you for under $7K landed for the kit. Show me the money and I'll show you a supercharger kit with every single bolt for a bolt-on application :D But yes, that thing sound horny as. I'd be scared to stand next to a car that sounded like that...
  12. yep, and that makes it heavier than my 205 :P edit: 1430kg here from my GT-Four.
  13. That's not bad. It's only a 3hr job to replace the turbo - unless, if it was like mine when I upgraded to a Blitz turbo, the previous mob who took the turbo off put a 17mm nut instead of a standard 13mm... which ended up taking us a total of 8hrs to change turbos!!! And lining up the original solid oil lines is a nightmare and a half, without taking the exhaust manifold and radiator off :P but we were lazy (sort of). In short - before you buy it, look at the engine bay. A lot of mechanics are reluctant to touch it, however if you have some minor mechanical knowledge you can do most things yourself without too much difficulty (having small arms/hands sure helps at times though! Have an asian friend handy ;) I'm allowed to say that cos I'm asian! :P) Changing the clutch is an engine-out job.
  14. oh, **** yes. And also the fact that the 3S-GTE, while bulletproof, can have a lot of little niggly problems which curse you to no end?! or is that just me? :D
  15. I'm not too sure with the ST185 series, but if it's original, kudos for them :) At a guess probably around the $14-15K mark? However if your budget stretches that far, send me a PM and I'll recommend you a 185CS that my friend is selling, in immaculate condition ;)
  16. What generation GT-Four - ST165, ST185 or ST205? ST205 seem to go for about the 20-25 mark (however I'd be hesitant to sell it for under $30 if I were to sell mine - it's the last one in Australia, a collector's item! B) )
  17. Extractors, as in exhaust manifold? You can always go for the eBay SSAutoChrome (and XSPower/other copies/etc) ones for bang-for-buck, don't know if they really help but they look the part :D If you want something decently made, you can always get an Aussie Exhausts manifold, downpipe, midpipe and catback exhaust (they do the full lot for the 185 from memory). Russell @ Aussie Exhausts is a great guy, you won't have any dramas with dealing with him :) Hope that helps. P.S. Be glad you got it easy! There are a great variety of ST185 exhaust manifolds out there. I have a 205; it's near-on impossible to find a decent priced one!!
  18. Don't get a cheapo strut brace off eBay. They'll do next to nothing for stopping chassis flex - they definitely do help, moreso than getting lowered springs.
  19. sx90: Due to the age of your car, I'm 90% certain ti's your syncros. Look into getting your gearbox reconditioned, or try your luck with a secondhand box.
  20. I'm not expert on the ZZT engine, but on my GT-Four (3S-GTE) gear crunching usually means it's the gears crunching. A good gearbox oil will somewhat help alleviate this problem. Also check that the clutch is fully disengaged. 5mins of warming up is normal - my turbo engine takes that long to warm up, even with my alloy radiator (i.e. radiator fan hardly ever turns on)! My car struggles to idle as well; that's because the piggyback ECU is waaaaaaaay out of tune :D so I can't really help you with that last point. Hope that helps. I'm going to sleep now.
  21. Very nice Duncan, very bling ;) PS. If anyone needs Samco hosing...
  22. Never been done for foglights in Melbourne. I got told once by a police officer (when I had HIDs in my fogs) to "Turn those things off, you don't need it, they're so damn bright!" and another time "you can have driving lights on, but your lowbeams need to be on as well" This was when I was driving an E36 BMW... angel eyes + HID fogs = respect B) I know the RTA up in NSW are pretty tightass on it though.
